Liverpool face Galatasaray at a time when Arne Slot’s squad is already feeling the strain of a long, gruelling campaign.
Conor Bradley is out after suffering significant bone and ligament damage to his left knee in the goalless draw at Arsenal back in January, with surgery ending his season.
Giovanni Leoni is also unavailable as he continues his long rehabilitation from a serious ACL rupture sustained in September.
In midfield, Wataru Endo is sidelined with an ankle problem and has already undergone surgery, with the Japan national team’s head coach confirming the procedure is part of a plan to have him ready for the 2026 World Cup rather than the run‑in with Liverpool.
Up front, Alexander Isak remains another long-term absentee after surgery on an ankle issue that also involved a fibula fracture, with Slot admitting the striker is still in the early stages of his recovery and not expected back until late March or the beginning of April.
Against that backdrop, the news from France about one of Liverpool’s big summer investments has landed with an extra jolt of anxiety.
Jeremy Jacquet picked up a shoulder injury at the beginning of February and has since undergone surgery to rectify the issue.
But according to French outlet Sport, the injury and operation are causing panic at Anfield:
“Liverpool, who paid £60 million + bonuses for this left-footed rock (more expensive than Todibo in 2023), are panicking behind the scenes: Arne Slot was targeting a Van Dijk-Jacquet duo to dominate the Premier League,” Stéphane Roy reports.
“The operation, validated jointly with the red staff (Liverpool had its say), postpones the integration: arrival on July 1st, but light pre-season, without a match rhythm. At Anfield, they are scrutinizing the rehab.”
The Athletic have previously reported that Jacquet will be fit and ready for the start of pre-season.
