The Ministry of Chocolate has issued an urgent recall on its New York Inspired bar in Australia, with customers who have a gluten allergy or intolerance advised not to consume the product and to return it for a full refund

A well-known chocolate bar has been removed from shop shelves following an urgent product recall.

The Ministry of Chocolate has warned its customers about a potential undeclared allergen in its New York Inspired bar.

The bar consists of milk chocolate with a peanut butter and jam filling and is stocked by independent food retailers throughout Australia.

The Ministry of Chocolate has urged customers with a gluten allergy to avoid consuming the chocolate bar, and to return it to their point of purchase.

A statement said: “Any consumers who have a gluten allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed.”, reports the Express.

“Consumers should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.”

The Australian-owned brand operates from Croydon, Victoria.

Their website states: “The Ministry of Chocolate is a family-owned and run business producing high-quality chocolate made on-site.

“We supply a number of businesses including luxury hotels, wineries, grocery as well as specialty chocolate and gifting stores.

“From humble beginnings at Farmer’s Markets across Melbourne, we found it increasingly difficult to produce at home with two young boys wanting to taste test EVERYTHING!
