Former The Only Way Is Essex and Ex On The Beach star Jordan Wright was found dead in a canal in Thailand months after moving to the country for a new start

The death of former Towie star Jordan Wright is shrouded in mystery after he was found dead in Thailand. The reality TV star died at the age of 33. He was found dead months after he moved to the holiday destination for a ‘new start’.

His body was found in a canal in the country. He had earlier checked into a hotel alone and was seen to be “pacing relentlessly” outside of the building. The devastating discovery was made on the popular island of Phuket.

Police chief Sutthirak Chuthong of Choeng Thale district station said: “The guest was identified as Mr Jordan Wright, a British national, whom the hotel had been unable to contact. A search of the room revealed no signs of forced entry or other irregularities.”

Reports say police had rushed to the scene of the incident near Bang Tao Beach – an idyllic spot popular with tourists. His body was found in the water. He was wearing a grey shirt and black pants, but was barefoot, according to police.

He is thought to still have his key card and in his pocket and a phone was found left on the bank nearby.

Police are said to have been told by hotel staff that the former reality TV star had checked into their accommodation alone. He had reportedly been due to leave the hotel on March 13, but never checked out.

Following his death, a spokesperson for The Only Way is Essex said in a statement: “Everyone at Towie sends their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Jordan Wright at this very sad time.”

Others paying tribute in the comments section of Wright’s last Instagram post include fellow stars of the show. Chloe Brockett wrote: “Rest in peace Jordan.”

Liam “Gatsby” Blackwell, who also appeared on the reality programme, also wrote: “Miss you already, brother. Glad I got to see you in Thailand a couple of months ago. Big love to all your Family.”

A spokesperson from the UK Foreign Office said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Thailand and are in contact with the local authorities.”

Jordan, who previously dated Vicky Pattison, appeared on TOWIE on series 22 and 23 in 2018. He had previously featured on reality dating series Ex On The Beach. However, he was reported to have been axed from the series after claims suggested he had been filming after taking sick leave from the London Fire Brigade.
