A man in his 50s remains in a critical condition after being attacked inside The Village Chippy in Stockbridge Village

A man is fighting for his life after being brutally attacked inside a fish and chip shop. The victim sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to hospital following the assault at the takeaway in Stockbridge Village.

The man, who is in his 50s, remains in a critical condition after the attack, which took place on Friday 17 April. The incident happened inside The Village Chippy, off Leach Croft, at approximately 7.30pm.

Merseyside Police were notified the following day by North West Ambulance Service after the victim was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Detectives are now urging the individual responsible for the savage assault to hand himself in. Anyone who witnessed the incident is also being asked to come forward “as a matter of urgency”, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Detective Inspector Steven O’Neill said: “This was a shocking assault that has left a man in hospital in a critical condition. An investigation is ongoing to find the person responsible and we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

“There were people inside the chippy at the time of the incident, so we are directly appealing to them to get in touch as a matter of urgency. We are determined to find the person responsible and an investigation is ongoing. Please come forward if you can assist our enquiries.”
