Bonnie Tyler is in a medically induced coma after being rushed to a hospital in Portugal, according to a new report.
The 74-year-old singer’s health update comes after “several days at Faro Hospital following intestinal surgery,” Portuguese news outlet Correio da Manha claimed Wednesday.
On Wednesday, the “Total Eclipse of the Heart” crooner’s official website and social media pages revealed her hospitalization.
“We are very sorry to announce that Bonnie has been admitted to hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she has a home, for emergency intestinal surgery,” the statement read. “The surgery went well, and she is now recuperating.
We know that all of her family, friends, and fans will be concerned about this news and will be wishing her well for a full and swift recovery.”
Tyler was first rushed to the hospital on April 30, according to The US Sun.
Her 2026 European tour, notably, is scheduled set to kick off in Malta on May 22 — and it remains unclear whether the shows will be canceled or postponed.
In March, Tyler said she was confident in her health in an interview with Hello! magazine.
“I’m fit enough at the moment, touch wood, and I’m really enjoying doing the shows,” Tyler told the outlet at the time.
“I’m still rocking on that stage with my wonderful band, and if you’ve got your health, you’ve got everything,” she added, noting she previously “had problems with [her] knees” that forced her to reschedule 2025 concerts.
“I didn’t [get] new knees,” Tyler told the outlet. “I had what they call washouts, which turned out to be very successful. So, hopefully that will last for a long time.”
The Wales native first achieved fame in the late ’70s with hits like “Lost in France” and “It’s a Heartache.”
Tyler’s 1983 record “Faster Than the Speed of Night” skyrocketed her to global superstardom.
The three-time Grammy nominee continued her massive success with “Holding Out for a Hero,” which she recorded in 1984 for the “Footloose” soundtrack.
