An EastEnders actor who was arrested on the set of the BBC soap relating to allegations of sex crimes last year has now been cleared of all accusations by the police

An EastEnders actor arrested on set has been cleared of all accusations. Last year, a man in his 50s was arrested following allegations of an assault which left a woman “clearly very distressed”.

Cameras stopped rolling on May 7, 2025, when a female complained that a fellow extra had forcibly attempted to kiss her. Security on the BBC soap opera, filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Herts, were forced to step in, leading to a scuffle.

The man was later handed over to the police. He was subsequently arrested for common assault and sexual assault against two alleged victims. Filming resumed after the incident occurred. Now, police have said the man has been released and that no further action will be taken against him.

In a statement, Hertfordshire Police said: “Hertfordshire Constabulary received a report of an incident in Eldon Avenue, Borehamwood on Wednesday 7 May 2025.

“A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of common assault and sexual assault in relation to two victims. Following initial enquiries, he was released with no further action.”

At the time, speaking to The Sun, sources had claimed that the incident was “dramatic”, adding: “Everyone was quite shaken by it all.” The witness said: “No one could quite believe what was happening.

“The main focus was the woman’s welfare, as she was clearly very distressed. Obviously, filming had to be stopped while the incident was dealt with by production managers and security.

“It got very heated when the man squared up to the security staff as they tried to calm things. Eventually, he was questioned and taken away by police.”

The man who was arrested had allegedly moaned to bosses about the treatment he received on the set of the soap.

At the time of his arrest, a spokesperson for EastEnders said: “While we would never comment on individuals, EastEnders has on-site security and well-established procedures in place to safeguard the safety and welfare of everyone who works on the show.”
