Olivia Wilde revealed that a tense conversation with Jason Sudeikis on her birthday in 2020 was the final straw in their relationship.

“Jason and I had been having a rough time for a while. We had a real bumpy ride,” the actress and director shared on Wednesday’s episode of Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast.

Wilde, 42, recalled the exes were driving home from her 36th birthday party on March 10, 2020, when she asked the “Ted Lasso” actor if he bought her a present.

“He said, ‘What would I get you, Olivia? I don’t know you,’” Wilde remembered.

The “Don’t Worry Darling” director admitted Sudeikis, 50, “wasn’t wrong” in his sharp response because they “didn’t know each other anymore.”

She said the interaction inspired her to make her new movie “The Invite,” which is about a struggling married couple played by Wilde and Seth Rogen.

“You can get to a place in a relationship where you stop engaging in the knowing of each other and the curiosity of each other, and you find yourself in a place where you’re like, ‘I don’t even know you,’” Wilde explained.

Wilde said the conversation made the former couple “realize” that their relationship “was over.”

“It was f–king tough,” she admitted. “It brought us to the place of, ‘OK, this is done, we’re gonna end this.’”

But when the COVID-19 lockdown happened days later, Wilde and Sudeikis had to keep living together with their two children, son Otis, now 12, and daughter Daisy, now 9.

Wilde said the exes tried to make their relationship work for the sake of their kids, but eventually they realized they were better off separated.

The pair, who were never married, were together for nearly a decade and engaged for seven years before their split was confirmed in November 2020.

After their breakup, Sudeikis served Wilde with custody papers while she was onstage at CinemaCon 2022. Their former nanny also claimed Sudeikis got so upset when Wilde headed to Harry Styles’ home with salad and a “special dressing” that he threw himself under her vehicle.

Wilde had a fling with Styles — who is 10 years her junior — before they called it quits in 2022.

She’s currently rumored to be dating Ellie Goulding’s ex-husband, Caspar Jopling.

Sudeikis, meanwhile, was romantically linked to “Ted Lasso” co-star Keeley Hazell and Pete Davidson’s ex, Elsie Hewitt, after his split from Wilde, though he recently confirmed that he’s single.

On “Call Her Daddy,” Wilde said she and Sudeikis, who recently reunited at their daughter’s graduation, have a “great” co-parenting relationship.

“These kids are consistently getting the best of us in a way that when we were together was not possible,” she said. “We did not work together. But we work really well as separated co-parents.”

Wilde also compared herself to a “superhero” because of how she balances motherhood and working.

“My version of going into the phone booth and putting on the suit is going to work and being 100 percent hardcore available to work 24/7,” she explained. “And then when I’m with my kids, it’s the opposite.”

Wilde admitted the balance can be “challenging” but also rewarding for her “really amazing parenting.”

“We are always our best with our kids,” she shared. “They get the best of us.”
