Former child star Daveigh Chase’s remains have been given to her mother, Cathy Chase, following her tragic death last month,
The Post, who was the first to exclusively report this news, revealed that the death certificate for the late “Lilo & Stitch” star showed her body was cremated and her ashes were given to her mother, making her final resting place in Cathy’s Chatsworth, California home.
The certificate also listed Daveigh’s occupation as “actress/vocal artist,” despite the fact that she hadn’t worked in years.
The actress died June 16 at the age of 35, following a case of meningitis and a blood infection which caused her body to turn septic and eventually shut down.
Her boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, announced the news of her passing. He also created a GoFundMe in the time leading up to her death, asking people to help the voiceover actress “find comfort and peace” in her final days.
It was later revealed that Daveigh’s cause of death was attributed to AIDS, with an underlying condition of chronic polysubstance abuse.
Toward the end of her life, “The Ring” star was said to be living on skid row in Downtown Los Angeles after she fell victim to drug addiction.
After news of her death was reported, Chase’s longtime manager of more than a decade, John Ryan, exclusively told The Post that he and Chase’s stepsister, Gaia Brown, had been working with a private investigator for a year to track her down and get her some help.
At the end of 2025, Ryan said he was made aware of a video which allegedly showed Chase shockingly skinny and struggling on Skid Row.
Shortly after Daveigh’s death, Cathy shared that she was “devastated” to learn of her daughter’s passing, after having spent much of her time searching online for traces of her “sunshine” child.
“It felt like something inside of me squeezing all of the air out of me, and at the same time, it felt like I was exploding outwardly,” she told the Daily Mail.
“I let out this guttural scream and I just was running,” she recalled. “And these weird sounds were coming out of me, these kind of, like, primeval sounds.”
She continued: “And I went out into the backyard, and I was screaming, “No, no, no, no!” I am in so much pain but I hope her soul heard me,” she said.
When she died, Daveigh had an estate worth $400,000 in personal property.
