{"id":109,"date":"2026-04-29T04:36:38","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T04:36:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/jurassic-park-star-sam-neill-reveals-hes-now-cancer-free\/"},"modified":"2026-04-29T04:36:38","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T04:36:38","slug":"jurassic-park-star-sam-neill-reveals-hes-now-cancer-free","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/jurassic-park-star-sam-neill-reveals-hes-now-cancer-free\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Jurassic Park\u2019 star Sam Neill reveals he&#8217;s now cancer-free"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/04\/126587391.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Sam Neill announced he\u2019s cancer-free after <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2023\/03\/17\/jurassic-park-star-sam-neill-secretly-battled-stage-3-blood-cancer\/\">battling stage 3 blood cancer<\/a> for five years.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cJurassic Park\u201d star, 78, shared the good news in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/7news.com.au\/news\/sam-neill-reveals-cancer-battle-and-fight-for-life-saving-treatment-access-c-22195450\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Australian network 7News<\/a> that aired Sunday. He said he had been undergoing chemotherapy to keep himself alive \u2014 calling it \u201cmiserable\u201d \u2014 but then the chemotherapy stopped working.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was at a loss and it looked like I was on the way out, which wasn\u2019t ideal obviously,\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n<p>Neill then went on clinical trial for a type of CAR-T therapy, which genetically modified his blood cells. CAR-T therapy is a personalized form of immunotherapy that trains your own immune cells to recognize and destroy cancer, according to the American Cancer Society.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Sam Neill announced he\u2019s cancer-free after battling stage 3 blood cancer for five years. No one knew exactly what we could expect,\u201d he said of his trial. \u201cI think I was first out of the block and i think the term for me was \u2018Patient Zero.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Neill said he was still processing the \u201cmiraculous\u201d turn in his cancer fight.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Neill, best known for his role as Dr. Allan Grant in the \u201cJurassic Park\u201d films, said he\u2019s now cancer-free thanks to cutting edge CAR-T therapy, which modified his blood cells. <span class=\"credit\">\u00a9MCA\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Neill, seen here in 1993\u2019s \u201cJurassic Park,\u201d is now advocating for new cancer therapies for those who need them. <span class=\"credit\">\u00a9MCA\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cBut of course it is not a miracle, it is science at its best,\u201d he wrote. \u201cAnd a lot of people who care deeply about their work and their patients. I am immensely grateful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The New Zealand actor admitted he was \u201cuncomfortable\u201d talking about his cancer, but explained that he was posting in the hopes that more groundbreaking treatments will be available to those who need them.<\/p>\n<p>Neill is supporting the Snowdome Foundation, a non-profit that raises funds to support research and clinical trials that will accelerate new treatments and cures for Australian blood cancer patients.<\/p>\n<p>Neill spoke about getting diagnosed with cancer in his 2023 memoir, \u201cDid I Ever Tell You This?.\u201d In his book, he revealed that he first noticed swollen glands\u00a0while doing press for\u00a0\u201cJurassic World Dominion\u201d\u00a0in March 2022.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Neill first noticed his cancer symptoms while promoting 2022\u2019s \u201cJurassic Park World Dominion.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">\u00a9Universal\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>In October 2023, Neill said he was prepared to die and wasn\u2019t afraid of it. He\u2019s seen here in April 2024. <span class=\"credit\">Weiss Eubanks\/NBCUniversal via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He was soon diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with \u201cAustralian Story\u201d in October 2023, Neill said <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/10\/17\/sam-neill-says-hes-not-remotely-afraid-of-death-amid-cancer-battle-out-of-my-control\/\">he was \u201cprepared\u201d for death<\/a> and wasn\u2019t \u201cremotely afraid\u201d of it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know I\u2019ve got it, but I\u2019m not really interested in it,\u201d\u00a0he said of his lymphoma.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s out of my control.
