Paulson\u2019s side denied the accusation, saying in court docs that the trusts were set up together decades ago to protect their kids.<\/p>\n<p>We reported in 2024 that John had offered Jenny hundreds of millions in cash<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2021\/09\/21\/john-paulson-and-wife-jenny-in-epic-divorce-battle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a0in their divorce<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2022\/05\/23\/john-paulson-accuses-wife-of-greed-in-their-divorce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <\/a>after <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2022\/05\/23\/john-paulson-accuses-wife-of-greed-in-their-divorce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">21 years of marriage<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 but that Jenny called the offer \u201chumiliating and demeaning.\u201d <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Paulson is engaged to Alina de Almeida. <span class=\"credit\">JASON SZENES\/ NY POST<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>The couple welcomed a baby last year.  <span class=\"credit\">Patrick McMullan via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIn my heart and my spirit I feel I deserve a 50\/50 split\u201d she wrote in an email, we reported. Or, \u201c60\/40 is OK because there have been other similar divorce arrangements.\u201d She also called her ex\u2019s offers \u00a0\u201cdisrespectful, shameful and humiliating,\u201d we reported.<\/p>\n<p>His side countered that his offer would make Jenny, \u201cone of the richest women in America,\u201d while keeping major trusts in place for their daughters.<\/p>\n<p>The divorce also sparked a war of words between the exes\u2019 attorneys, with Cohen once quipping of John, \u201cThe man is worth billions of dollars\u2026 and Mr.\u00a0Paulson\u00a0offered Mrs. Paulson\u00a0only a monthly \u2018allowance,&#8217;\u201d adding at the time, \u201cThat\u2019s called chutzpah \u2014 or in English, hypocrisy!\u201d Chinitz of Blank Rome fired back at the time in a comment, \u201cIn what universe is hundreds of millions in upfront cash, plus annual eight-figure distributions for the rest of her life \u2013 all tax free \u2013 considered an joint statement.<\/p>\n<p>A source told us of the settlement, \u201cThe talks began in earnest earlier this year,\u201d adding that a judge in the case encouraged the parties to engage in settlement talks. \u201cIt\u2019s fair to everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2021\/09\/21\/john-paulson-and-wife-jenny-in-epic-divorce-battle\/?_ga=2.197131244.1770278600.1657223558-1137633990.1649350671\">The former spouses\u00a0<\/a>were also at noopener\">\u00a0engaged to his girlfriend<\/a>, Alina de Almeida, 38, in 2024, and the couple <a
