The regulation, tucked away in official driving guidance, relates to vehicle windshields and windows &#8211; and experts warn it could catch out thousands of motorists across the UK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The warning centres on <a target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/the-highway-code\/annex-6-vehicle-maintenance-safety-and-security\" rel=\"nofollow\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">Highway Code Rule 97 and Annex 6<\/a>, which state that vehicles must be kept in a roadworthy condition with clear visibility at all times. It says windscreens and windows \u201cMUST be kept clean and free from obstructions to vision\u201d to ensure safe driving.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">This is reinforced by wider UK law, including the <a target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/the-highway-code\/annex-6-vehicle-maintenance-safety-and-security\" rel=\"nofollow\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations<\/a>, which require drivers to maintain full visibility through all glass surfaces.
