It just wasn\u2019t funny.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRobin was always trying something different to make me laugh,\u201d the \u201cLincoln\u201d star continued. \u201cIt was so unfunny. I can\u2019t begin to tell you.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t until their co-star Pierce Brosnan, who played the role of Stuart \u201cStu\u201d Dunmeyer, \u201cmade a fart noise on his arm\u201d that Field finally cracked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe made a fart noise on his arm,\u201d she recalled. \u201cAnd I was gone. That was it.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The actress stated she didn\u2019t break character despite the late actor making his co-stars laugh. <span class=\"credit\">Scott Kowalchyk \/CBS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cIt drove him mad, actually, because I would never laugh, ever,\u201d Fields (seen here in the movie) explained. <span class=\"credit\">20th Century Fox\/Blue Wolf\/Kobal \/ Shutterstock<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Field shared that Williams was in disbelief, telling her, \u201cThat\u2019s all it took?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DYCzEi8OX_a\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">separate interview with People<\/a>, Field shared how Williams supported her the day her father died while they were filming a divorce court scene.<\/p>\n<p>She recalled Williams pulling her aside to ask if she was OK before she broke down in tears over her late father.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRobin turned around and said, \u2018That\u2019s it for the day guys. We just wrapped here. We\u2019re done for the day \u2026 Mrs. Fields is going home,\u201d she said. \u201cThat was Robin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Chris Columbus-directed film follows Williams\u2019 character, Daniel Hillard, who disguises himself as a female housekeeper, known as Mrs. Doubtfire, in a bid to spend more time with his kids, who are in the custody of  Field\u2019s character.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cAnd everybody else was laughing and carrying on,\u201d she said. He was 63.<\/p>\n<p>The Oscar-winning actor, who was known for his comedic energy and charm, was found dead in his San Francisco home.<\/p>\n<p>He had been struggling with depression and\u00a0undiagnosed <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2020\/09\/02\/robin-williams-widow-susan-says-doctors-told-them-to-sleep-apart-before-his-death\/\">Lewy body dementia<\/a> leading up to his death.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lbda.org\/what-is-lbd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to the Lewy Body Association<\/a>, the disease can cause\u00a0neuropsychiatric\u00a0symptoms, such as hallucinations.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Williams (seen here) portrayed housekeeper Mrs. Doubtfire in the movie. <span class=\"credit\">20th Century Fox\/Blue Wolf\/Kobal \/ Shutterstock<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The actor (seen here in 2004) died by suicide in 2014. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Williams\u2019 wife, Susan Schneider, shared in 2020\u2019s \u201cRobin\u2019s Wish\u201d documentary that he was being chased by an \u201cinvisible monster\u201d in the months before he died.<\/p>\n<p>Schneider recalled telling her late husband that they \u201cwould get to the bottom\u201d of his concerns, unaware that she would later receive the diagnosis from a coroner\u2019s report.<\/p>\n<p>The couple tied the knot in 2011.
