{"id":1283,"date":"2026-05-07T20:44:40","date_gmt":"2026-05-07T20:44:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/elizabeth-smart-reveals-her-take-on-nancy-guthries-whereabouts\/"},"modified":"2026-05-07T20:44:40","modified_gmt":"2026-05-07T20:44:40","slug":"elizabeth-smart-reveals-her-take-on-nancy-guthries-whereabouts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/elizabeth-smart-reveals-her-take-on-nancy-guthries-whereabouts\/","title":{"rendered":"Elizabeth Smart reveals her take on Nancy Guthrie&#8217;s whereabouts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/05\/127201333-1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Elizabeth Smart thinks Nancy Guthrie could \u201cabsolutely\u201d still be alive. <\/p>\n<p>Smart \u2014 who was famously abducted from her Utah home as a teen and held captive for nine months back in 2002 \u2014 shared her thoughts about the <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/03\/26\/entertainment\/savannah-guthrie-recounts-chilling-new-clues-from-the-night-mom-nancy-disappeared\/\">apparent abduction of Savannah Guthrie\u2019s mother<\/a> from her Arizona home earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to ask you about one thing, separate from all of this,\u201d CNN\u2019s Erin Burnett <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/05\/05\/us\/video\/ebof-elizabeth-smart-bodybuilding-journey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">asked Smart during a recent interview<\/a> centering on her <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/04\/celebrity-news\/elizabeth-smart-feels-liberated-after-decision-to-enter-bodybuilding-contest\/\">newly revealed bodybuilding career<\/a> \u2014 adding that she \u201cwas just thinking about it with Nancy Guthrie and being missing.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you were missing and the reason everyone knows your face, everyone wondered,\u201d Burnett continued. \u201cAnd then it was, well, it\u2019s been months, and maybe the worst has happened. And you came back, and here you are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Burnett then asked Smart \u2014 who was <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/01\/21\/entertainment\/elizabeth-smart-netflix-documentary-biggest-bombshells\/\">found in 2003 <\/a>after undergoing a terrible ordeal with her captors \u2014 if she thinks \u201cthere\u2019s any chance\u201d that the missing 84-year-old Guthrie matriarch \u201cstill could have gotten through it\u201d despite not being found in nearly 100 days.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Elizabeth Smart said in a recent interview with CNN\u2019s Erin Burnett (as seen above) that she thinks Nancy Guthrie could \u201cabsolutely\u201d still be alive. <span class=\"credit\">CNN<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Smart said the Guthrie matriarch, seen above with daughter Savannah Guthrie in 2020, \u201cdeserves\u201d to be brought home \u201ceither way.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">savannahguthrie\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cAbsolutely. Absolutely,\u201d Smart, now 38, exclaimed. \u201cShe could absolutely still be alive. There are cases that span many more years than mine does and they came back alive. And we\u2019re talking years and years. So she could absolutely still be alive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added, \u201cOf course there is the alternative, but until we know, we have to keep looking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Smart noted that Nancy \u201cdeserves, either way, to be brought home.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The bodybuilding enthusiast was taken from her bed at knifepoint at the age of 14 and subjected to extensive abuse before being rescued nine months later.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Smart (seen here in a recent interview with \u201cCBS Mornings\u201d) noted during the interview that some kidnapping cases have spanned \u201cmany more\u201d years than hers and \u201cthey came back alive.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">CBS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Smart (pictured above in previous social media post) went missing at age 14 in 2002 and was rescued nine months later in 2003. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/@elizabeth_smart_official<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In the ensuing years, she became an outspoken child safety advocate.
