She was hysterical.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>One source told Page Six that Lea Michele was \u201chysterical\u201d over being snubbed for a Tony nomination. <span class=\"credit\">Bruce Glikas\/WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But a Broadway insider tells us the chanteuse, who plays Florence Vassy in the Broadway revival and has never got an Tony nomination, isn\u2019t being a diva \u2014 she is just really down and out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was sick last weekend and probably should have taken off Saturday and Sunday,\u201d says a source. \u201cShe really is not well.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Th \u201cGlee\u201d alum has been out of her show \u201cChess\u201d this week. <span class=\"credit\">Bruce Glikas\/WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Two sources tells Page Six that Michele is actually sick and not being a diva. <span class=\"credit\">Bruce Glikas\/WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sure she is disappointed as everyone is for her, but she really was under the weather,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n<p>Michele was out of the show last Friday, but pushed through the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>A third source tells us that the songstress, \u201chas laryngitis and it developed into bronchitis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We hear a doctor has cleared Michele to take the stage on Friday for any ticket holders eager to see the former \u201cGlee\u201d star in person.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>We hear Michele had laryngitis that developed into bronchitis.  <span class=\"credit\">Bruce Glikas\/WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Her co-stars Nicholas Christopher (right), Bryce Pinkham and Hannah Cruz were nominated. <span class=\"credit\">Bruce Glikas\/WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The revival itself received five nods including Best Actor in a Musical for Nicholas Christopher, Best Featured Actor for Bryce Pinkham and Best Featured Actress for Hannah Cruz.<\/p>\n<p>Michele\u2019s performance has drawn rave reviews. <\/p>\n<p>She has starred in a number of Broadway shows including 2022\u2019s \u201cFunny Girl.\u201d She was not eligible for a Tony because she took over the role from original star Beanie Feldstein.<\/p>\n<p>She has also appeared in \u201cLes Mis\u00e9rables,\u201d \u201cRagtime,\u201d \u201cFiddler on the Roof\u201d and \u201cSpring Awakening.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Michele, we hear will be back at the show Friday, May 8. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>She celebrated the unveiling of her Sardi\u2019s portrait on April 16, 2026. <span class=\"credit\">Stephen Lovekin\/Shutterstock<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Michele is in good company when it comes to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/05\/05\/entertainment\/brutal-tony-award-2026-nominations-kick-adrien-brody-and-lea-michele-to-the-curb\/\">surprising snubs<\/a> from this week\u2019s awards announcement.
