We held the baby and we tried to give the baby CPR for as long as we could, as best as we could, until the ambulance got there.&#8221; Oswaldo Sandoval Amaya, Roger&#8217;s uncle, was 25 years old and was also pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">According to a press release issued by the Los Angeles Police Department, the driver of the Jeep Cherokee abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled on foot &#8220;without stopping to identify themselves or render aid as required by law.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;The Los Angeles Fire Department&#8217;s paramedics responded and pronounced one occupant of the BMW deceased at scene. The other 3 occupants of the BMW were transported to a local hospital, where one was later pronounced deceased, and one is listed in critical condition,&#8221; the press release said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Eyewitness Cory Cooper added: &#8220;When I walked up to the accident, there were some people already there and there was a man holding the child, and it didn&#8217;t look like the child was doing well, so we gave him CPR, waited for 911 and then they pulled out another passenger while we were giving CPR and she didn&#8217;t look good, either,&#8221; Cooper said. &#8220;And that&#8217;s when the ambulances came.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Roger&#8217;s grandmother set up a fundraising page to raise funds for the family at such a devastating time. A message on the page reads: &#8220;Roger was a happy and joyful child who brought light to everyone around him. His resilience and smile touched the hearts of all who knew him, and he was truly a blessing to our family.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;Losing Roger has been an unimaginable loss for our family. We are now facing the difficult task of arranging his funeral and memorial services, and we want to honor his life in the most beautiful way possible.
