He did not elaborate.<\/p>\n<p>Guthrie is the 84-year-old mother of <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/07\/entertainment\/mystery-swirls-as-savannah-guthrie-returns-to-today-show-after-abrupt-exit-for-appointment\/\">\u201cToday\u201d show co-host\u00a0Savannah Guthrie<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He declined to answer another question about Mother\u2019s Day, which is Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Late last month, a private forensic lab in Florida sent a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/dna-testing-nancy-guthrie-case-could-take-months-may-fast-tracked-expert-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hair sample to the FBI<\/a>\u00a0for more advanced analysis.<\/p>\n<p>Experts have told Fox News Digital the hair could be used for investigative or forensic genetic genealogy if it doesn\u2019t match anyone known to have been in Guthrie\u2019s home, potentially pointing a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/nancy-guthrie-case-retired-lieutenant-suggests-mexico-ties-downplayed-keep-feds-case-early\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">task force of county detectives<\/a>\u00a0and FBI agents toward a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/12\/us-news\/ex-fbi-agent-fears-nancy-guthrie-suspect-could-soon-strike-again\/\">suspect<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Asked whether investigators are closer to solving the case nearly 100 days in, Nanos replied, \u201cWe are.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">James S. The challenge in forensic genetic genealogy is not simply generating a DNA profile, but generating a high-quality profile. Poor-quality or incomplete DNA profiles can make genetic genealogy difficult, ambiguous, or even impossible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s because an incomplete profile can lead researchers to miss potential familial connections that could help find a suspect.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Nanos declined to answer another all the genetic relatives,\u201d he added. \u201cIt can be harder to resolve how people are related or not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nanos said previously that investigators believe Guthrie was taken from her home around 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 1.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/early-missteps-delayed-search-plane-response-emerge-savannah-guthries-mother-disappearance\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/new-security-images-uncovered-nancy-guthrie-abduction-case-fbi-investigation-continues\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">masked man of average height<\/a>\u00a0and build carrying a holstered pistol at Guthrie\u2019s front steps around the time of her abduction.<\/p>\n<p>A man in similar clothing was spotted about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/masked-suspect-seen-nancy-guthries-home-three-weeks-before-her-abduction-sources-say\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">three weeks earlier approaching her door<\/a>\u00a0again.<\/p>\n<p>He has not been publicly identified, but retired FBI profiler Jim Clemente told Fox News Digital this week that he believes the suspect made a number of mistakes that could help investigators identify him, if\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/sheriff-shrugs-off-missteps-nancy-guthrie-case-calls-captor-let-her-go-family-pleads-help\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">someone in his inner circle<\/a>\u00a0doesn\u2019t come forward first.<\/p>\n<p>There is a combined\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/increased-reward-nancy-guthrie-case-puts-psychological-pressure-suspects-inner-circle-ret-fbi-agent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reward of more
