Yeah,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<p>Despite them shooting the scene \u201ca couple different ways,\u201d the actress said Wolf and the editors ultimately aired the near-kiss version rather than the full smooch.<\/p>\n<p>Hargitay, 62, and Meloni, 65, \u201cdisagreed\u201d with that decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe disagreed because we thought that it was earned and the way it was dealt with was really complex and very beautiful and very human and showed the complexity of their relationship and all the different ways that they\u2019re connected,\u201d Hargitay told THR.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Hargitay (seen above with Wolf) said she and Meloni \u201cdisagreed\u201d with Wolf\u2019s decision to cut the scene. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Hargitay said that Wolf (pictured above) and the editors decided to use a scene where Meloni and Hargitay nearly kiss. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She added, \u201c[But] no matter what I want, Dick Wolf can totally just say, \u2018Uh, no.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meloni previously addressed the deleted kissing scene between Benson and Stabler, who have had a \u201cwill they or won\u2019t they\u201d relationship on the NBC series, during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=513aVY20g_4&amp;t=2072s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TVLine Spotlight conversation<\/a> last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were attempting something. I don\u2019t think it worked,\u201d he admitted. \u201cBut I\u2019m not going to tell you why it didn\u2019t work, because you all have your opinion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Off-screen, both actors are happily married. <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2018\/06\/06\/rats-ruined-peter-hermanns-date-with-mariska-hargitay\/\">Hargitay has been married to Peter Hermann<\/a> since 2004 and they have three children, while Meloni and Doris Sherman Williams have been married since 1995 and share two children.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>\u201cWe felt that this moment was earned, that this thing could happen for a second,\u201d Hargitay told THR (Hargitay and Meloni are pictured above in in \u201cLaw &amp; Order: SVU\u201d). <span class=\"credit\">Virginia Sherwood\/NBC<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Hargitay (seen above with Meloni) said she thought the kissing scene was \u201cvery beautiful and very human.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Will Hart\/NBC via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Hargitay and Meloni joined \u201cLaw &amp; Order: SVU\u201d in 1999. Meloni left the show in 2011 and reprised his character for the \u201cLaw &amp; Order: Organized Crime\u201d spinoff, which was recently canceled after five seasons.<\/p>\n<p>In her THR interview, Hargitay said it\u2019s \u201cpossible\u201d that Meloni could come back to \u201cSVU.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt some point? I mean, anything\u2019s possible.
