Mango for NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Although the judge\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/06\/09\/celebrity-news\/judge-tosses-justin-baldonis-400m-lawsuit-against-blake-lively-ryan-reynolds\/\">dismissed Baldoni\u2019s countersuit<\/a>\u00a0in June 2025, he didn\u2019t rule on whether the 2023 law applied.<\/p>\n<p>Baldoni\u2019s team opposed Lively\u2019s motion in October 2025 and argued that the actress\u2019s filing violated his constitutional right to petition the courts.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cIt Ends With Us\u201d director\u2019s team also argued that the California law shouldn\u2019t apply because the alleged sexual harassment incidents would have occurred in New Jersey, where the bulk of the 2024 film was shot.<\/p>\n<p>As for the surprising settlement, it came just days before the case was scheduled to go to trial on May 18 and just weeks after a judge\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/04\/02\/celebrity-news\/blake-lively-dealt-devastating-blow-in-ongoing-justin-baldoni-harassment-lawsuit\/\">threw out 10 of Lively\u2019s 13 claims<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lively also <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/11\/celebrity-news\/reporter-says-blake-lively-attended-met-gala-2026-to-manipulate-internet\/\">stepped out at this year\u2019s Met Gala<\/a> shortly after the settlement was announced.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Lively (as pictured here) stepped out at this year\u2019s Met Gala shortly after her and Baldoni\u2019s settlement was announced last Monday. <span class=\"credit\">FilmMagic<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The pair\u2019s case was scheduled to go to trial on May 18. <span class=\"credit\">REUTERS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cRaising awareness, and\u00a0making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors \u2014 and all survivors \u2014 is a goal that we stand behind,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, both sides have claimed victory in the wake of the grueling and expensive legal battle.<\/p>\n<p>Baldoni\u2019s attorney, Bryan Freedman, <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/06\/celebrity-news\/blake-lively-settlement-was-huge-victory-for-justin-baldoni-lawyer\/\">called the settlement a \u201chuge victory\u201d<\/a> while speaking with \u201cTMZ Live\u201d last Tuesday.
