She was 82.<\/p>\n<p>Harmon\u2019s family <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dignitymemorial.com\/obituaries\/new-york-ny\/jennifer-harmon-12876888\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">confirmed her death<\/a> via a memorial website, which features multiple pictures and heartfelt memories of the late actress.<\/p>\n<p>A memorial service for Harmon has yet to be scheduled, according to the site.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Soap actress Jennifer Harmon (seen above in a portrait from 1989) died on May 9. She attended both the University of Mississippi and the University of Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>After moving to New York City, Harmon began her career on Broadway in 1965, appearing in a revival of \u201cYou Can\u2019t Take It With You.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other Broadway productions she took part in over the years included \u201cThe Cherry Orchard,\u201d \u201cThe Wild Duck,\u201d \u201cThe School for Scandal,\u201d \u201cThe Sisters Rosensweig,\u201d \u201cThe Deep Blue Sea,\u201d \u201cThe Dinner Party,\u201d \u201cThe Glass Menagerie,\u201d \u201cSeascape\u201d and \u201cOther Desert Cities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/lifestyle\/arts\/jennifer-harmon-dead-one-life-to-live-broadway-1236592577\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Hollywood Reporter,<\/a> Harmon was an understudy for stars like Stockard Channing, Judi Dench, Jessica Lange,\u00a0Marian Seldes and Blythe Danner.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Harmon (pictured above in 1989) started her career in New York City, appearing in tons of Broadway productions. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>She played Cathy Craig Lord in \u201cOne Life to Live\u201d from 1976 to 1978 (as seen above with Farley Granger), which earned her a Daytime Emmy nomination. <span class=\"credit\">Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Harmon\u2019s first soap role was as divorced alcoholic Christine in \u201cHow to Survive a Marriage,\u201d which aired on NBC from 1974 to 1975.<\/p>\n<p>The following year, she began starring as Cathy Craig Lord in ABC\u2019s \u201cOne Life to Live.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harmon was the fifth actress to play Cathy, after Catherine Burns, Amy Levitt, Jane Alice Brandon and Dorrie Kavanaugh.<\/p>\n<p>The role earned Harmon a nomination for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in 1978, the same year she left the show.
