What form of payment is she expecting?&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Panettiere, she later \u201cfound out\u201d that her mom just wanted \u201cmoney.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDisappointed,\u201d the \u201cRemember the Titans\u201d star claimed Vogel, now 70, \u201cdidn\u2019t pursue\u201d a mother-daughter relationship with her after that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce the business aspect was removed, I was hoping that there [would] be no reason for her to be anything other than my than my mom,\u201d Panettiere explained. \u201cAnd the fact that it seemed like she didn\u2019t want to \u2014 didn\u2019t care to \u2014 have a relationship with me was a tough pill to swallow.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>\u201cI said to her, \u2018I don\u2019t want us to work together anymore; I just want you to be my mom,&#8217;\u201d Panettiere recalled telling Vogel. <span class=\"credit\">Jay Shetty Podcast<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Vogel (seen here with Panettiere in 2009) allegedly responded, \u201cYou owe me.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Asked about the status of their relationship today, the actress lamented that they are \u201csadly\u201d estranged. (Panettiere and her father, Skip Panettiere, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/news\/hayden-panettiere-gets-honest-on-loss-addiction-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201chave a great relationship.\u201d<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Though Hayden is \u201cincredibly grateful\u201d for her mom\u2019s guidance early in her career, she claimed Vogel \u2014 who allegedly \u201cstopped acting and decided to focus her entire life on creating a career\u201d for her daughter \u2014 had very high expectations of her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve desperately [sought] her approval for my entire life. You know, she was the person after every take that I looked to. I wouldn\u2019t look to the director or the producers or anybody else. The only person that existed and the only person whose opinion mattered to me was hers,\u201d Hayden said.<\/p>\n<p>She added, \u201cI had to make sure that she was happy with it and I wasn\u2019t in trouble, because if I didn\u2019t do it right, I was in trouble. Yeah. It was not a good reaction.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>According to Panettiere (pictured above with Vogel in 2009), she later \u201cfound out\u201d that her mom just wanted \u201cmoney.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>\u201cDisappointed,\u201d the actress claimed Vogel \u201cdidn\u2019t pursue\u201d a mother-daughter relationship with her after that. <span class=\"credit\">Jay Shetty Podcast<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_27-0\">Hayden also recalled the \u201cvery strange\u201d and \u201cuncomfortable\u201d \u201crole reversal\u201d of her \u2014 a child and then teenager \u2014 contributing financially to the family unit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the one hand, I was still a kid, and I was listening to my parents and had to do everything that they told me I could and could not do,\u201d she explained. \u201cBut at the same time, I was working hard, making money, and this money was going towards things that I wasn\u2019t privy to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hayden became emotional when discussing losing her \u201cother half,\u201d her younger brother, Jansen Panettiere, who <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2023\/02\/20\/hayden-panettieres-brother-jansen-dead-at-28\/\">died in February 2023 at age 28<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She told Jetty she used to feel \u201cvery guilty\u201d that her career affected how much time she and her mom could spend with Skip and Jansen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remember [Vogel] actually turning to me one night and saying, \u2018You\u2019re the reason why I\u2019m missing my son growing up.\u2019 And that was a punch in the gut,\u201d Hayden claimed.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Panettiere told Jetty she used to feel \u201cvery guilty\u201d that her career affected how much time she and her mom could spend with younger brother Jansen Panettiere, who died in 2023. I wasn\u2019t even old enough to perceive [or] understand anything but good, bad, hot, cold, diaper change, food, you know?
