dealt with a series of health issues <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/12\/celebrity-news\/revenge-of-the-nerds-star-donald-gibb-dead-at-71\/\">leading up to his tragic death<\/a> at the age of 71.<\/p>\n<p>The actor was battling throat cancer and suffered a heart attack just a few weeks before he died, his son, Travis, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2026\/05\/13\/donald-gibb-had-cancer-prior-to-death\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told TMZ<\/a> Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Travis confirmed that his famous father\u2019s cause of death was a result of his cancer.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Donald Gibb (seen here in 2019) was Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>According to Travis, Gibb died Tuesday at his Texas home while surrounded by his loved ones.<\/p>\n<p>In a heartbreaking statement, Gibb\u2019s family stated that he \u201cloved the Lord and his family, his friends and his fans with all his heart.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Additionally, they shared that the \u201cBloodsport\u201d star would be \u201cdeeply missed and forever remembered.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>However, the cause of death for Gibb (seen above in 2024) was ultimately cancer, per his son.  <span class=\"credit\">Barry Brown \/ father to\u00a0Moana, Lehua, Mykkal and Olivia.<\/p>\n<p>Gibb\u2019s most famous role was as Ogre in the 1984 Jeff Kanew-directed film \u201cRevenge of the Nerds.\u201d <\/p>\n<figure and Convict in the 2008 movie \u201cHancock\u201d starring Will Smith and Charlize Theron.<\/p>\n<p>Gibb\u2019s death came shortly after \u201cRevenge of the Nerds\u201d co-star Robert Carradine <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/02\/24\/entertainment\/robert-carradine-revenge-of-the-nerds-and-lizzie-mcguire-actor-dead-at-71\/\">died by suicide<\/a> in February.<\/p>\n<p>Carradine, who portrayed Lewis Skolnick, <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/02\/24\/celebrity-news\/inside-robert-carradines-mental-heath-struggles-before-shocking-death-at-71\/\">suffered from bipolar disorder<\/a> for 20 years, his brother previously revealed.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a
