\u201cThis Is Me: A Reckoning,\u201d<\/a> and in her Monday appearance on the \u201cOn Purpose with Jay Shetty\u201d podcast.<\/p>\nIn her Monday interview, Panettiere claimed she was on a boat with friends when she was \u201cled by somebody that I had grown to trust and see as a protector and somebody who had my back\u201d down the stairs into a \u201cvery small\u201d room.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe physically put me in the bed next to this undressed man who was very famous,\u201d she remembered, adding that for the unnamed male celebrity \u201c[it was] like this was just an average day for him and this is something that happens all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n
In that moment, the actress said she went into survival mode and pulled out \u201cthat lion in me, that fire in me.\u201d<\/p>\nIn her memoir, Panettiere (seen here on Monday\u2019s episode of the \u201cJay Shetty\u201d podcast) writes of an incident where an older female friend forced her into bed with an \u201cundressed\u201d and \u201cvery famous\u201d man when she was just 18 years old. Jay Shetty Podcast<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nShe also recounted the incident on Monday\u2019s episode of the \u201cJay Shetty\u201d podcast, saying the moment brought out the \u201clion in me.\u201d Jay Shetty Podcast<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u201cMy hair stood on end and I became ferocious,\u201d she noted. \u201cI was like, \u2018This is not happening.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
However, because they were on a boat out on the water, she was trapped with the woman who trapped her in the compromising position.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was no jumping off and swimming away,\u201d she explained. \u201cAnd I realized that there was nobody who was going to be empathetic to my situation, that this was nothing new to them.\u201d<\/p>\n
The situation taught the \u201cNashville\u201d star that while she thought she was \u201coh-so-mature\u201d at the time after having lived \u201csuch a huge life,\u201d she learned that wasn\u2019t exactly the truth. <\/p>\n\u201cMy hair stood on end and I became ferocious,\u201d she remembered. \u201cI was like, \u2018This is not happening.\u2019\u201d Jay Shetty Podcast<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nPanettiere claimed the ordeal showed her that while she believed herself to be \u201coh so mature\u201d at that age, she learned she \u201cwasn\u2019t capable of being fully aware of what was going on around me.\u201d Jay Shetty Podcast<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u201cSo even though I felt like I could make healthy decisions and safe decisions, I wasn\u2019t capable of being fully aware of what was going on around me,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Panettiere refrained from explicitly naming the woman involved in the story. Though, internet sleuths quickly speculated the woman to be Jenkins due to the stars\u2019 formerly close friendship. <\/p>\n
