This thing that you know to be where your perception of yourself lies has failed you,\u201d the \u201cSecret Invasion\u201d star continued. \u201cAnd no one else can see it.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure like she \u201ccheated death,\u201d Clarke couldn\u2019t \u201clook anyone in the eye.\u201d<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After the health scares, Clarke became \u201creally sensitive\u201d to headaches, constantly becoming convinced it was \u201chappening again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She once told her publicist she thought she was \u201cgoing to die\u201d \u2014 but went forward with an MTV interview anyway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was no other option but to carry on,\u201d Clarke recalled of her mindset at the time. \u201cI was raised by a family that did not partake in self-pity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Looking back, she now understands she did \u201d not take care of\u201d herself or give \u201cgrace\u201d during her recovery.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image mentally during her recovery.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Clarke <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2019\/03\/22\/emotional-emilia-clarke-thanks-fans-for-support-after-aneurysm-reveal\/\">went public with her aneurysms<\/a> in a 2019 New Yorker essay.<\/p>\n<p>The first, she revealed, caused a stroke and required emergency surgery \u2014 while the second led to a \u201cfailed\u201d surgery and a \u201cmassive bleed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe doctors made it plain that my chances of surviving were precarious if they didn\u2019t operate again,\u201d she recalled in the poignant piece. \u201cThis time they needed to access my brain in the old-fashioned way \u2014 through my skull.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clarke, who has since launched a SameYou charity inspired by her journey, called her recovery \u201cgruesome\u201d and revealed \u201cbits of [her] skull had been replaced by titanium.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter longer usable \u2014 it\u2019s remarkable that I am able to speak, sometimes articulately, and live my life completely normally with absolutely no repercussions,\u201d she marveled during the 2022
