Some were not a fan of his tan and scruffy facial hair, and took digs at his appearance.<\/p>\n<p>Lochte, 41, clapped back<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DYU2o_LR_5z\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> in a video posted by his girlfriend,<\/a> Molly Gillihan, on Thursday. He appeared bewildered over people commenting on his looks, before pointing out that he\u2019s aged.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Ryan Lochte clapped back at critics who called him \u201cunrecognizable\u201d in a video posted by his girlfriend, Molly Gillihan, on Thursday. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/@mollygilli<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>He noted that he\u2019s aged since competing in the Olympics more than a decade ago. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/@mollygilli<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cOh, so they\u2019re taking a picture of when I was working out every day, getting makeup put on me for photo shoots, back in, like, 2012 in the Olympics. We\u2019re in 2026,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s that 14 years? You think I aged?\u201d he added sarcastically.<\/p>\n<p>Gillihan did explain a dark spot on his forehead in the video, sharing that she was dying her eyebrows and Lochte put some dye on the top of his head that turned black. <\/p>\n<p>Still, Lochte was unamused by the comments saying he looks drastically different.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Lochte called those questioning his appearance in his Instagram video over the weekend (seen here) \u201cclowns.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">ryanlochte\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Lochte\u2019s tan and facial hair had some fans commenting that he looked drastically different. <span class=\"credit\">ryanlochte\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cTo be unrecognizable, I mean, I don\u2019t get it,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cThey\u2019re all clowns, like, come on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gillihan also jokingly captioned the video, \u201c\ud83d\udc40 Who is this guy pretending to be my boyfriend @ryanlochte?!? \ud83e\udd23\ud83e\udd23\ud83e\udd23 #unreconizable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Comments on Lochte\u2019s original post announcing his new job included, \u201cLiterally does not look like him,\u201d and \u201cDamn what happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But others supported him in the comments section, with one fan writing, \u201cSay what you want but this dude is a legend.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Lochte, seen here in August, 2016, has 12 Olympic medals \u2014 six of them are gold. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The decorated swimmer, seen here in September 2012, announced his new job \u2014 an assistant coach at Missouri State University \u2014 in the video over the weekend, which pays $34 an hour. <span class=\"credit\">WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Lochte\u2019s assistant coach job will start later this summer after his contract is officially approved by the university\u2019s board of governors in June, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/05\/11\/sports\/ryan-lochte-joining-missouri-state-swim-team-staff-for-34-an-hour\/\">the New York Post reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to his contract,\u00a0obtained by Front Office Sports, the job pays $34 an hour and he\u2019ll earn an estimated $30,000. He\u2019s eligible for bonuses, which include $750 for a Missouri Valley Conference men\u2019s and women\u2019s championship or co-championship.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lochte has three children with <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/03\/03\/celebrity-news\/ryan-lochtes-ex-wife-kayla-rae-reid-accuses-him-of-cheating-compares-him-to-tristan-thompson\/\">his estranged wife, Kayla Reid<\/a>: Caiden, 8,  Liv, 7, and Georgia, 2.<\/p>\n<p>Lochte and Gillihan \u2014 who also has three kids \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/07\/07\/celebrity-news\/ryan-lochte-goes-instagram-official-with-new-woman-amid-divorce-from-kayla-rae-reid\/\">went public with their relationship<\/a> last July.
