\u201cBut, I\u2019ve heard great things,\u201d\u00a0English reassured us.<\/p>\nPage Six exclusively chatted with the cast of the new \u201cYellowstone\u201d spinoff, \u201cDutton Ranch,\u201d which stars Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly (seen above). Emerson Miller\/Paramount+<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u201cYellowstone\u201d creator Taylor Sheridan (seen above) wasn\u2019t a big presence on the set of \u201cDutton Ranch,\u201d cast members exclusively told Page Six. Getty Images for amfAR<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<\/aside>\n\u201cDutton Ranch\u201d follows Rip and Beth \u2014 portrayed by Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly, respectively \u2014 after the events of \u201cYellowstone,\u201d as they set up shop in Texas and encounter hostile new neighbors, like Beulah (Annette Bening) and her fixer, Joaquin (Raba).\u00a0<\/p>\n
The spinoff show was created by Chad Feehan, who worked as the Season 1 showrunner, with Sheridan serving as an executive producer.<\/p>\nMarc Menchaca (pictured on set with Reilly) said the \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d cast was in good hands with executive producer Christina Alexandra Voros, a \u201ctrusted confidant\u201d of Sheridan. Emerson Miller\/Paramount+<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nThe actor (seen above in \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d with Reilly, J.R. Villarreal and Hauser) told Page Six that he brought some of the cowboy skills he had in his \u201cback pocket\u201d to set. Emerson Miller\/Paramount+<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nDuring our interview, Menchaca also gushed over what it was like working with series star Hauser.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s good to work with somebody who is so knowledgeable about the world, and also has a hand in where the story is going,\u201d he said, referring to the fact that Hauser is now an executive producer.\u00a0\u201cHe was a good shoulder to lean on.\u201d<\/p>\n
The \u201cOzark\u201d actor \u2013 who has been married to \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d star Lena Headey since 2022 \u2013 plays Zachariah, one of Rip\u2019s new ranch hands who recently got out of prison.\u00a0<\/p>\nSterlin English (pictured at the \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d premiere on May 12) grew up \u201criding and roping,\u201d he said. Some had to go through a full \u201ccowboy camp\u201d to shape up for filming, while others, like English, were naturals and exempt from training.<\/p>\n
\u201cI felt really at home [on the show],\u201d the actor \u2014 who plays a new ranch hand character \u2014 said, noting that he\u2019s a real-life cowboy who grew up riding and roping. \u201cEverybody in my way of life all loves the Taylor Sheridan universe.\u201d<\/p>\n
Still, he worked alongside real cowboys to brush up on some of those skills, and turned to another cinema icon for inspiration: \u201cRobert Duvall in \u2018Tender Mercies\u2019 and \u2018Lonesome Dove.’\u201d<\/p>\nMenchaca (pictured with J.R. Villarreal and Hauser) said he looked to Robert Duvall as inspiration for his character. Lauren Smith\/Paramount+<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nJuan Pablo Raba (pictured with Annette Bening in \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d) said working with her was like \u201cgoing to school.\u201d Lauren \u00e2Lo\u00e2 Smith\/Paramount+<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u201cAnnette is a master of this craft,\u201d he raved. \u201cSometimes I\u2019d call my wife and say, \u2018I just got paid to go to acting school,\u2019 because I am getting schooled every single day on set.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cDutton Ranch\u201d premieres Friday at 8 p.m. ET on Paramount and Paramount+.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
