returned to the top of the box office after moonwalking down a step last week. <\/p>\n<p>The Michael Jackson biopic was in the No. 1 spot Friday, its fourth in theaters, with sales of $7 million, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to Box Office Mojo<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The movie, which <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/21\/entertainment\/michael-review-michael-jackson-biopic-is-painfully-bad\/\">The Post called <\/a>\u201cpainfully bad,\u201d has brought Jackson\u2019s music back onto the Billboard charts, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2026\/05\/14\/nx-s1-5822509\/michael-jackson-popularity-billboard-charts\">according to NPR<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure reentered the Hot 100 singles chart at No. 38.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>In second place was \u201cObsession,\u201d which earned $6.89 million on its opener Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The horror flick, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/movies\/articles\/obsession-review-bracingly-scary-horror-173047952.html\">Yahoo said<\/a> had a \u201csuperbly orchestrated blending of dread, jump scares and dark comedy,\u201d centers around a man wishing on a toy that his lifelong female friend falls in love with him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Devil Wears Prada 2\u201d\u00a0moved down a notch to third, taking in $5.3 million on its third Friday in theaters.<\/p>\n<p>The sequel to the 2006 comedy \u2014 which had a reported production budget of $100 million \u2014 has already made over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-numbers.com\/movie\/Devil-Wears-Prada-2-The-(2026)\">$450 million<\/a> globally.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter <\/p>\n<p>Several months before the fantasy sequel even premiered, Warner Bros. had already greenlit \u201cMortal Kombat III,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/paultassi\/2026\/05\/12\/everything-we-know-about-mortal-kombat-3-including-a-resurrection\/\">according to Forbes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In fifth was \u201cThe Sheep Detectives,\u201d\u00a0the mystery comedy starring Hugh Jackman, with just over a $2.4 million take.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a
