{"id":2804,"date":"2026-05-20T05:13:21","date_gmt":"2026-05-20T05:13:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/jon-stewart-surprises-stephen-colbert-with-a-surprise-serenade-from-andra-day\/"},"modified":"2026-05-20T05:13:21","modified_gmt":"2026-05-20T05:13:21","slug":"jon-stewart-surprises-stephen-colbert-with-a-surprise-serenade-from-andra-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/jon-stewart-surprises-stephen-colbert-with-a-surprise-serenade-from-andra-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Jon Stewart surprises Stephen Colbert with a surprise serenade from Andra Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/05\/newspress-collage-kz0e1dkrl-1779253489402.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/04\/media\/jon-stewart-to-remain-at-daily-show-through-2026-despite-frequent-trump-criticism\/\">\u201cThe Daily Show\u201d host Jon Stewart<\/a> was one of Stephen Colbert\u2019s final guests as \u201cThe Late Show\u201d continues its final week, and he had quite the going-away present for his old friend.<\/p>\n<p>Stewart, 63, and Colbert, 62, reminded fans that they go back decades to the late 1990s, when they both worked together on \u201cThe Daily Show\u201d during Stewart\u2019s first hosting stint.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of us has not aged as well as the other,\u201d Stewart says of himself, joking, \u201cOne of these people is getting age-defying peptides, and the other is getting a placebo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The interview ended with Stewart presenting a gift for Colbert, a new recliner, but he had a surprise up his sleeve, bringing out one of Colbert\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/05\/31\/entertainment\/andra-day-releases-her-first-new-album-in-nine-years\/\">favorite singers, Andra Day<\/a>, which clearly stunned Colbert.<\/p>\n<p>She came out and blew Colbert a few kisses before breaking into her 2015 breakthrough hit \u201cRise Up\u201d for the comedy titans.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cThe Daily Show\u201d host Jon Stewart was one of Stephen Colbert\u2019s final guests as \u201cThe Late Show\u201d continues its final week, and he had quite the going-away present for his old friend.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The interview ended with Stewart presenting a gift for Colbert, a new recliner, but he had a surprise up his sleeve, bringing out one of Colbert\u2019s favorite singers, Andra Day, which clearly stunned Colbert.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Stewart is no stranger to Colbert\u2019s position, reminiscing on when he was fired from \u201cThe Jon Stewart Show,\u201d which was syndicated through Paramount Domestic Television from 1993 to 1995.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe term back then was \u2018s\u2013t-canned.\u2019 I don\u2019t know what they call it now. We had two more weeks to go, and they put security guards at all the exits \u2026 We didn\u2019t have anything of value,\u201d Stewart joked.<\/p>\n<p>Stewart added that his show, \u201c\u201cspiraled so out of control\u201d in those final weeks, \u201cbecause I was not a mature grown-up like you are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stewart\u2019s final guest for that show was David Letterman, adding, \u201cHe said to me something very profound. He said, \u2018Don\u2019t confuse cancelation with failure.\u2019 \u2026 But then he said, \u2018But in this case it is also a failure.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Stewart added that his show, \u201c\u201cspiraled so out of control\u201d in those final weeks, \u201cbecause I was not a mature grown-up like you are.\u201d<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Stewart also praised \u201cThe Late Show\u201d staff, adding they were always, \u201cSo game\u201d for whatever he had pitched to them, including a sketch involving alpacas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am not a particularly good long term planner and I would challenge them. I talked to them and I said wouldn\u2019t it be funny if it showed where I would be living at the time. Wouldn\u2019t it be funny if I had a James Bond bookcase where I opened the bookcase and it revealed more of my lair. Wouldn\u2019t it be funny if when it opened, it was revealed that I was raising alpacas?
