Ensuring the outfits paid homage to the world of Runway without making it look like she was cosplaying her iconic character.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile there are nods to the film, we weren\u2019t dressing Miranda Priestly; we were dressing Meryl Streep as she is today,\u201d Erlanger explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been leaning into a term I call \u2018meta dressing.\u2019 It\u2019s about fashion referencing fiction that\u2019s referencing real fashion history \u2014 all while still keeping the wearer\u2019s real life and career in mind as well. While audiences love the \u2018Easter eggs,\u2019 I find it\u2019s more exciting to layer those nods into looks that still feel authentic to the person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As such, the 76-year-old actress\u2019 press tour looks combined winks to the movie with plenty of personal touches. For her first stop in Mexico City on March 30, for instance, Streep hit the step-and-repeat in a devil-red Dolce &amp; Gabbana suit affixed with brooches from her own personal collection, including purple ribbons from her 2010 National Medal of the Arts and a rainbow rosette from the 2011 Kennedy Center Honors.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Wearing Celine in New York. <span class=\"credit\">GC Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Wearing Givenchy in New York. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Wearing Prada in Seoul. <span class=\"credit\">WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A few weeks later, she stepped out in NYC wearing sleek black Celine separates cinched with four different belts that did <em>not<\/em> look exactly the same,\u00a0a clever nod to the comment that inspired Miranda\u2019s iconic cerulean monologue in the movie.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe vision was power and authority, but without sacrificing femininity,\u201d Erlanger said of the focus on tailoring throughout Streep\u2019s tour. \u201cWe wanted to showcase a woman at the height of her career who is fully realized and confident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The stylist is particularly fond of the crimson Prada pantsuit her client wore during her stop in Seoul \u2014\u00a0\u201cThere\u2019s something so storied about her being back in that brand for this franchise,\u201d she noted \u2014\u00a0but pointed to Streep\u2019s Givenchy getup for the New York premiere as her personal favorite fashion moment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe head-to-toe leather and the cape felt like a true homecoming for the film,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Wearing Saint Laurent with Anne Hathaway (in Susan Fang) in Shanghai. <span class=\"credit\">VCG via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Wearing J.Crew on \u201cThe Late Show With Stephen Colbert\u201d in New York. <span class=\"credit\">Scott Kowalchyk \/CBS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Other standout styles from Streep\u2019s past several weeks of \u201cDWP2\u201d promotional duties? The blue satin Saint Laurent coat she sported in Shanghai, her playful fringed Chanel skirt set for the Tokyo premiere and, of course, the <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/04\/02\/style\/meryl-streep-brings-back-the-iconic-cerulean-blue-sweater-for-devil-wears-prada-2\/\">cerulean J.Crew sweater<\/a> she donned for a stop at \u201cThe Late Show With Stephen Colbert.\u201d (Custom-designed in collaboration with Erlanger, Streep\u2019s cable knit was made from cashmere, unlike Andy Sachs\u2019 infamous poly-blend crewneck.)<\/p>\n<p>To ensure the movie\u2019s cast looked cohesive on every red carpet, Erlanger shared a group chat with Erin Walsh (Anne Hathaway\u2019s stylist) and Jessica Paster (who dresses Emily Blunt); the three texted constantly about designers, fabrics, colors and cuts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe coordinate to ensure each client\u2019s look complements each other rather than clashes,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s a beautiful collaboration that mirrors the women-led energy of the film.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Wearing archival Giorgio Armani Priv\u00e9 in London. <span class=\"credit\">Dave Benett\/WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Wearing Prada (and a Judith Leiber Couture clutch) in London. <span class=\"credit\">WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Erlanger embraced sparkle for the press tour\u2019s final stop in London, dressing Streep in a navy sequined Richard Quinn cocoon coat and an archival Giorgio Armani Priv\u00e9 jacket finished with shimmering red crinoline bow at the collar.<\/p>\n<p>Best of all for \u201cDevil\u201d diehards, however, had to be the custom, crystal-covered Judith Leiber Couture clutch modeled after \u201cThe Book\u201d\u00a0\u2014\u00a0the infamous, spiral-bound Runway mock-up Miranda Priestly reviews each night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe saved the most <em>groundbreaking<\/em> looks for the finale,\u201d Erlanger quipped. \u201cAs they say, the devil is in the details!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/04\/30\/style\/meryl-streep-devil-wears-prada-2-press-tour-outfits\/\" target=\"_blank\">Source link<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Meryl Streep wearing Richard Quinn at \u201cA Night With Runway\u201d in London.
