sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m still able to walk around and Sumit is still allowed to smile,\u201d she wrote atop a selfie of her and her husband, Sumit Singh, on her Instagram Stories Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The couple appeared to be in high spirits as they continue to seek out treatment for the disease that is currently incurable. <\/p>\n<figure href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/90-day-fiance-star-jenny-slatten-reveals-she-has-als-11972799\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview with People<\/a> on Tuesday, Slatten, 68, and Singh, 38, detailed the horrifying symptoms she experienced before one year before receiving the final diagnosis in December 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The first one they noticed was her difficulty swallowing, and shared that she once choked \u201cbadly\u201d while drinking water.<\/p>\n<p>The TLC star then began to have trouble swallowing pills and started experiencing migraines.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Slatten first received the diagnosis last December, but went public with it on Tuesday in an interview with People. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/sumitjenny<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>She and her husband revealed that the first symptom appeared about one year before the diagnosis, and it was difficulty swallowing. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/sumitjenny<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Although her condition seemed to improve slightly for a short period of time, they told the outlet that their concern grew once again when her speech became noticeably slower.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s when we knew something was wrong,\u201d Slatten said.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly before she received her diagnosis, she traveled from India to New York City for a\u00a0\u201c90 Day Fianc\u00e9\u201d\u00a0holiday party.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>As time went on, her speech got noticeably slower. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/sumitjenny<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter interview, several fans of the show expressed concern for her health, with one suggesting that she get tested for the disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to muscle weakness, as well as loss of mobility and speech, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/amyotrophic-lateral-sclerosis\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20354022\">per the Mayo Clinic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Slatten\u2019s father, notably, had died of ALS more than a decade ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cried and held each other,\u201d Slatten recalled of the moment they learned of her diagnosis, which has left them both \u201cscared\u201d for what their future will look like.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter have been leaning on each other ever since. <span class=\"credit\">Justin Stephens\/TLC<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Doctors have told the pair \u2014 who first appeared on \u201c90 Day Fianc\u00e9: The Other Way\u201d in 2019 and have been fan favorites ever since \u2014 that the progression of Slatten\u2019s ALS \u201cis slow.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She decided to go public with her diagnosis months later in hopes \u201cmaybe somebody will come forward with something\u201d that could help her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want to be treated any different,\u201d Slatten insisted. much love, or I can love anyone this much,\u201d Singh gushed. \u201cI used to \u2026 live for myself. But from [the] last so many years, I feel like doing [things] for someone who you love gives you happiness, I think that\u2019s what love is.
