He\u2019s always been this kind of macho dude and there\u2019s like a \u2014 fragile is not the right word but \u2014 just a tenderness that maybe being Bruce Willis might not have allowed him in a certain way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rumer, 37, also noted that until her father\u2019s diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD), she \u201chad no idea\u201d how \u201cprevalent\u201d the progressive neurological disease is. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s wild to me,\u201d she told host Maeve Reilly during the discussion. \u201cSo many people come up to me now and they say, \u2018My uncle had FTD. My dad had this.&#8217;\u201d <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Rumer Willis shared during a recent interview with \u201cThe Inside Edit\u201d (as seen above) that father Bruce has developed a \u201csweetness\u201d amid his FTD battle. <span class=\"credit\">YouTube\/@TheInsideEditPodcast<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Rumer noted that the \u201cDie Hard\u201d star (seen above in a throwback photo with her) was previously a \u201cmacho dude.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Rumer Willis\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Rumer \u2014 who <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2023\/04\/25\/rumer-willis-gives-birth-to-first-baby-with-derek-richard-thomas\/\">welcomed her first baby<\/a>, a daughter named Louetta, in April 2018 with Derek Richard Thomas, whom she <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2024\/08\/23\/celebrity-news\/rumer-willis-boyfriend-derek-richard-thomas-break-up-1-year-after-baby-louettas-birth\/\">split from a year later<\/a> \u2014 is the eldest child of the Bruce, 71, and ex-wife Demi Moore.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cDie Hard\u201d actor also <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/article\/bruce-willis-kids\/\">share daughters<\/a> Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 32, with Moore, 63, while he additionally welcomed daughters Mabel, 14, and Evelyn, 12 with current wife Emma Heming Willis.<\/p>\n<p>Despite their divorce in 2000, Bruce and \u201cThe Substance\u201d actress remain on good terms.<\/p>\n<p>On the action star\u2019s birthday in March, Moore <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/03\/20\/celebrity-news\/demi-moore-celebrates-ex-bruce-willis-71st-birthday-with-sweet-new-snaps-as-actor-battles-dementia\/\">shared a tender tribute<\/a> to her ex on social media, writing, \u201cAll you need is LOVE. Happy birthday, BW! \u2665\ufe0f.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The family announced in 2022 that Bruce was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2022\/03\/30\/bruce-willis-diagnosed-with-aphasia-stepping-away-from-acting\/\">retiring from acting following a diagnosis of aphasia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2023\/02\/16\/bruce-willis-condition-worsens-family-reveals-new-diagnosis\/\">his battle with FTD <\/a>was revealed via a statement on the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis,\u201d the family\u00a0wrote at the time, calling it a \u201ccruel disease\u201d that \u201ccan strike anyone.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor people under 60, FTD is the most common form of dementia, and because getting the diagnosis can take years, FTD is likely much more prevalent than we know,\u201d they added. <\/p>\n<p>Bruce\u2019s family also noted that if he was able to respond to his situation, he \u201cwould want to respond by bringing global attention and a connectedness with those who are also dealing with this debilitating disease and how it impacts so many individuals and their families.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image November, the mom of one took to her Instagram Stories <a href=\"http:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/11\/21\/parents\/rumer-willis-gives-heartbreaking-update-on-dad-bruces-dementia-battle\/\">with a heartbreaking update<\/a> on her famous dad.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to a follower asking how her father was doing, Rumer replied that it\u2019s \u201ca hard one to answer because, the truth is, anybody with FTD is not doing great.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added in the upload that Bruce is \u201cdoing OK in terms of somebody who\u2019s dealing with frontotemporal dementia\u201d and that while \u201cthose parameters\u201d\u00a0affect how she views her father\u2019s ongoing battle, she remains \u201cso happy and grateful\u201d that she\u2019s still able to \u201chug him.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a
