He was 52.<\/p>\n<p>The actor\u2019s longtime rep, Saideh A. Brown, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2026\/05\/22\/grizz-chapman-dead\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">confirmed the news to TMZ<\/a> on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>His wife and two children are said to be devastated.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"> <span class=\"credit\">NBCUniversal via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"> <span class=\"credit\">NBCU Photo Bank\/NBCUniversal via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Chapman\u2019s cousin, Harlem Globetrotter Donte \u201cHammer\u201d Harrison, also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DYqaXe6DX7w\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">took to Instagram<\/a> to reveal the actor died in his sleep \u201cafter years of fighting illness and dialysis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLife gave my cousin Grizz Chapman some heavy battles, but he fought them with strength and dignity until the very end,\u201d Harrison said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of people knew him as the sitcom star from 30 Rock, but we knew the man behind the screen.
