{"id":329,"date":"2026-04-30T18:27:14","date_gmt":"2026-04-30T18:27:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/country-music-legend-david-allan-coes-final-album-to-be-released-posthumously\/"},"modified":"2026-04-30T18:27:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T18:27:14","slug":"country-music-legend-david-allan-coes-final-album-to-be-released-posthumously","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/country-music-legend-david-allan-coes-final-album-to-be-released-posthumously\/","title":{"rendered":"Country music legend David Allan Coe&#8217;s final album to be released posthumously"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/04\/126713767.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Late country music legend David Allan Coe\u2019s final album will reportedly be released later this year.<\/p>\n<p>The controversial singer\u2019s longtime manager, Ken Madson, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2026\/04\/30\/david-allan-coe-final-album-release-date-revealed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told TMZ<\/a> on Thursday that he owns Coe\u2019s last album and hopes to release it on Sept. 6 \u2013 which would have been the \u201cShe Used to Love Me a Lot\u201d singer\u2019s 87th birthday.<\/p>\n<p>Although Coe recorded the still-untitled album for a label in 2017, record execs reportedly got \u201ccold feet\u201d and shelved the project.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Late country music legend David Allan Coe (pictured here in 1975) will have his final album released later this year. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Coe\u2019s longtime manager said he wants to release the country crooner\u2019s final album on Sept. 6, which would have been when Coe (seen here in 2010) celebrated his 87th birthday. <span class=\"credit\">FilmMagic<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Madson also told the outlet that Coe\u2019s final album will include previously unreleased songs and new material, including a track called \u201cA Million Reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite owning the record outright, Madson said he still plans to approach Coe\u2019s widow, Kimberly Hastings Coe, about releasing it together.<\/p>\n<p>However, the still-untitled album isn\u2019t the only project David\u2019s loyal fans can look forward to after the \u201cRide\u201d hitmaker\u2019s death. <\/p>\n<p>Madson revealed that Johnny Knoxville began a documentary about the late country crooner back in 2018. It\u2019s reportedly up to the \u201cJackass\u201d star, though, to decide if he wants to release the doc.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Coe\u2019s final album will include previously unreleased songs and new material from the outlaw country music icon (pictured here in 1970). <span class=\"credit\">Michael Ochs Archives<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>There is also reportedly a documentary about Coe (seen here during a concert in 1987) in the works.  <span class=\"credit\">Redferns<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>David <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/04\/30\/entertainment\/david-allan-coe-country-music-legend-dead-at-86\/\">died at the age of 86<\/a> on Wednesday, his rep told the New York Times without sharing any additional details.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDavid is a musical treasure,\u201d the rep said. \u201cEven in his years of declining health, David appreciated all of the fans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kimberly, who was Coe\u2019s sixth wife, confirmed her husband\u2019s death further in an emotional statement to Rolling Stone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the best singers, songwriters, and performers of our time [and] never to be forgotten,\u201d she told the outlet. \u201cMy husband, my friend, my confidant and my life for many years. I\u2019ll never forget him and I don\u2019t want anyone else to ever forget him either.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although a cause of death has not been confirmed, the \u201cLonghaired Redneck\u201d singer\u2019s health was said to have been declining for years.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Coe (pictured here in 2015) passed away on Wednesday at the age of 86. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cDavid is a musical treasure,\u201d the country legend\u2019s rep said of Coe (seen here in 2018). \u201cEven in his years of declining health, David appreciated all of the fans.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>David narrowly survived a shocking crash when a semi-truck struck his Suburban at an intersection after he ran a red light at 1:30 a.m. in Florida in 2013,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ocala.com\/story\/news\/local\/2013\/03\/19\/david-allan-coe-injured-in-ocala-traffic-crash\/64312539007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to the Ocala Star Banner<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While rescuers spent two hours cutting the singer out of the wreckage, he reportedly walked away with broken ribs, bruised kidneys and almost 50 stitches in his head.<\/p>\n<p>Then, in 2021, David was hospitalized for a month after testing positive for COVID.<\/p>\n<p>Remembered as one of the pillars of the outlaw country movement, David was also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2000\/09\/04\/arts\/songwriter-s-racist-songs-from-1980-s-haunt-him.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">described as \u201cobscene and racist\u201d by the Times<\/a> in a scathing 2000 report.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the early 80s the outlaw country singer David Allan Coe released very small quantities of two underground albums of songs that are among the most racist, misogynist, homophobic and obscene songs recorded by a popular songwriter,\u201d\u00a0the outlet wrote.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The \u201cRide\u201d singer (pictured here in 2019) was also remembered by his widow, Kimberly Hastings Coe. <span class=\"credit\">WireImage for Shock Ink<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Remembered as one of the pillars of the outlaw country movement, Coe (seen here in 2019) was also once described as \u201cobscene and racist.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">WireImage for Shock Ink<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>David, who famously wrote \u201cTake This Job and Shove It\u201d for Johnny Paycheck in 1977, later addressed the accusations in 2004.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnyone that would look at me and say I was a racist would have to be out of their mind.
