Hilary and I had become quite close,\u201d Spelling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iheart.com\/podcast\/1119-90210mg-72174382\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said during Friday\u2019s episode <\/a>of the \u201c90210MG\u00a0podcast,\u201d noting that her recollection was from her \u201cperspective\u201d and was \u201cnot gonna get it verbatim what [Swank] said\u201d during the encounter. <\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_13-0\">Spelling recalled that she, Swank and Swank\u2019s then-husband, Chad Lowe, had \u201chung out\u201d together at the time.<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_15-0\">\u201cI was kind of her safe place on set, and she would talk to me about everything,\u201d Spelling shared. \u201cAnd she said, \u2018Paul Wagner wants to talk to me in his office. However, Spelling waited for the actress as she attended the meeting.<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_19-0\">\u201cSo she goes in, and she comes back, and she\u2019s crying, and she comes into my dressing room,\u201d Spelling recalled, adding that Swank declared that she just \u201cgot let go\u201d and that she was \u201cbeing fired from the show.\u201d <\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_19-0\">\u201cI hadn\u2019t heard any of this, we didn\u2019t know,\u201d Spelling recalled thinking. \u201cShe was hysterically crying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Spelling then shared Swank\u2019s fear of being finished in the industry, noting that she wasn\u2019t \u201cgoing to get this wording correct.\u201d <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Spelling said after she was let go, Swank was \u201chysterically crying.\u201d Swank is pictured above in 1997.  <span class=\"credit\">\u00a9Aaron Spelling Prods\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Spelling recalled Swank saying she was \u201cnever gonna make it\u201d in the industry after being written off the show. If I get fired off of\u00a0\u201890210,\u2019 I\u2019m never gonna make it,&#8217;\u201d the \u201cTori &amp; Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood\u201d alum recounted. <\/p>\n<p>Spelling said Swank\u2019s despair was \u201cironic,\u201d given that had she \u201cstayed on\u00a0\u201890210,\u2019 she would not have been able to audition for\u00a0\u2018Boys Don\u2019t Cry.\u2019 She would not have been able to get that role, do that role and then win an Academy Award.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Swank, 51, overshot the mark after her 2000 Oscar victory for \u201cBoys Don\u2019t Cry,\u201d scoring another coveted best actress win in 2005 for \u201cMillion Dollar Baby.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The celebrated actress joined the series as waitress Carly Reynolds during its eight season. Her character \u2014 a single mom who falls for Steve Sanders (Ian Ziering) \u2014 was written out of the show after just 16 episodes.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Swank, who played Carly Reynolds, was written off the show in its eighth season.
