She also had a documented history of mental illness and depression. <\/p>\n<p>As we previously reported, Katherine died by an apparent suicide in February. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martin later <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/10\/celebrity-news\/martin-short-speaks-out-on-daughter-katherines-death\/\">addressed the death<\/a> in his May interview with \u201cCBS Sunday Morning,\u201d calling it a \u201cnightmare\u201d for his family. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cIt is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,\u201d a rep for the \u201cOnly Murders in the Building\u201d star confirmed to Page Six at the time.
