Like, how could you even say that to me? This beautiful child is healthy and everything to celebrate,\u201d she continued. \u201cAnd I\u2019m completely incapable of doing it. I felt so guilt ridden that I was incapable of doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Panettiere \u2014 who shares Kaya with ex-fianc\u00e9 Wladimir Klitschko \u2014 has previously spoken candidly about <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2016\/05\/13\/hayden-panettiere-back-in-rehab-for-postpartum-depression\/\">battling postpartum depression<\/a> after giving birth in 2014, as well as her struggles with addiction in the years that followed.<\/p>\n<p>At one point during the panel, the actress recalled being devastated after seeing her face on a magazine cover while walking through an airport years ago.<\/p>\n<p>She detailed the moment she was walking to her gate when she saw a headline that read, \u201cWhy Hayden Panettiere Gave Up Her Daughter.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The actress opened up about her struggles with postpartum depression during a panel discussion for her new \u201cThis Is Me: A Reckoning\u201d memoir.  <span class=\"credit\">Sarah Jones\/Page Six<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The Golden Globe nominee also opened up about the painful moment she signed custody paperwork. <span class=\"credit\">Sarah Jones\/Page Six<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cYou might as well have taken a knife and stabbed me in the heart. If anyone knew me, they [would] know that I would do absolutely anything for my daughter,\u201d Panettiere said. \u201cAnd sometimes that means not what you want as a mom or what\u2019s going to make you feel good as a parent, but what\u2019s best for them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Golden Globe nominee also opened up about the painful moment she <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2022\/09\/27\/hayden-panettiere-talks-decision-to-relinquish-custody\/\">signed custody paperwork<\/a>, explaining that her father was present at the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have to be a little careful.
