{"id":3791,"date":"2026-05-28T12:15:04","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T12:15:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/rumer-willis-accuses-derek-richard-thomas-of-insane-domestic-violence-custody-battle\/"},"modified":"2026-05-28T12:15:04","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T12:15:04","slug":"rumer-willis-accuses-derek-richard-thomas-of-insane-domestic-violence-custody-battle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/rumer-willis-accuses-derek-richard-thomas-of-insane-domestic-violence-custody-battle\/","title":{"rendered":"Rumer Willis accuses Derek Richard Thomas of &#8216;insane&#8217; domestic violence: custody battle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/wp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F3%2F2026%2F05%2Fwillis-15.jpg?quality%3D90%26strip%3Dall\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Rumer Willis accused her ex Derek Richard Thomas of \u201cincessant domestic violence\u201d in bombshell court documents fighting for custody of their toddler, Louetta.<\/p>\n<p>Demi Moore and <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/article\/bruce-willis-kids\/\">Bruce Willis\u2019 daughter<\/a> has been engaged in a contentious legal battle with her child\u2019s father since Thomas requested an order for child custody and visitation in July 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/news\/inside-rumer-willis-relationship-with-ex-derek-richard-thomas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Us Weekly reported<\/a> Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Rumer responded by detailing a \u201cpersistent pattern\u201d of \u201cinsane emotional abuse\u201d that took place before their <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2024\/08\/23\/celebrity-news\/rumer-willis-boyfriend-derek-richard-thomas-break-up-1-year-after-baby-louettas-birth\/\">2024 breakup<\/a> \u2014 \u201coften in front of the minor child or while they were trapped in the car with him.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Rumer Willis accused ex Derek Richard Thomas (pictured above in December 2023) of \u201cpersistent\u201d abuse in bombshell court docs. <span class=\"credit\">Chelsea Lauren\/for Common Ground \/ Shutterstock<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Bruce Willis and Demi Moore\u2019s daughter (pictured above in January) is fighting for custody of daughter Louetta. <span class=\"credit\">rumerwillis\/instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>The 37-year-old, who has asked for primary physical custody, alleged, \u201cHe engaged in ongoing coercive control through prolonged circular verbal attacks that he is unable or unwilling to stop. [He] engages in this type of attack for over six hours at a time on what became a daily basis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She wrote that Thomas\u2019 \u201cerratic and bizarre\u201d behavior \u201cescalated\u201d after their daughter\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2023\/04\/25\/rumer-willis-gives-birth-to-first-baby-with-derek-richard-thomas\/\">April 2023 birth<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was constantly trying to keep the peace and walk on eggshells,\u201d Rumer claimed. \u201cHe wanted to isolate me from my friends and family. He constantly called me a liar with no reason behind it. He told me I was a bad girlfriend all the time. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe had paranoid behavior saying that my mother and I were plotting to take Louetta away from him,\u201d Rumer added. \u201cHe got very mad at me when I would not let his mother smoke weed in my house when Louetta was a newborn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She continued, \u201cFor a long time, it was difficult for me to stand up to [Thomas] as I tried to avoid his emotional tirades and abuse even for a long time after he moved out.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Rumer (pictured above in April 2023) claimed Thomas\u2019 alleged abuse \u201cescalated\u201d after the now-3-year-old was born. <span class=\"credit\">GC Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The 37-year-old (pictured above in March 2023) claimed Thomas\u2019 alleged antics left the little one \u201ctraumatized.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Michael Simon \/ Shutterstock<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Rumer claimed the dynamic left Louetta, now 3, \u201ctraumatized\u201d and \u201ccrying a lot,\u201d which is why she \u201cdoes not want [him] to have overnights or time with Louetta without a 730 child custody evaluation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Rumer expressed hesitation over Thomas\u2019 fianc\u00e9, Lizzie Loch, being present for his parenting time \u201cdue to his known history of fighting in relationships, and in front of the child.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thomas, however, insisted Rumer made this request because because she feels \u201cenraged\u201d by their daughter\u2019s \u201cclear affection\u201d for his new partner.<\/p>\n<p>As for the abuse claims, he declared, \u201cI have committed no acts of domestic violence in any form, including any active coercive control. [Our] relationship was unhealthy and appropriately came to an end, but it was not at all characterized by any violence, physical or emotional attacks or intimidation on my part.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe decision to end the relationship between myself and [Rumer] was a mutual decision made in our mutual best interests,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Rumer was allegedly \u201cconstantly trying to keep the peace and walk on eggshells\u201d during her time with Thomas (pictured above in November 2022). <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images for ESPRIT<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>She has requested Thomas (pictured above in 2023) be subject to drug testing and a custody evaluation. <span class=\"credit\">rumerwillis\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Thomas also fired back at Rumer\u2019s request that he \u201csubmit to court ordered drug testing due to his history of chronic daily marijuana use and evidence of behavior indicative of someone under the influence of drugs for extended periods of time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Claiming he is not a \u201ccurrent user of marijuana,\u201d Thomas wrote, \u201cI have previously used marijuana as legally allowed and at no point did I engage in the use of marijuana to such a degree as to render me unable to fully and properly fulfill my duties and obligations as Louetta\u2019 s father.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rumer, however, described an alleged incident when the exes lived together and Thomas was \u201cso high, that he could not even watch her for those couple of minutes without her rolling off the couch.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She also accused Thomas of letting Louetta \u201cfall off the bed once in November 2023,\u201d alleging, \u201cHe then made it all about him that I was upset about him letting her fall off the bed instead of just comforting her baby and helping her feel better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rumer also requested Thomas not be allowed to bathe with Louetta, calling this \u201chighly inappropriate \u2026 at her age.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Thomas (pictured above in 2022) denied his ex\u2019s claims of abuse and drug use. <span class=\"credit\">rumerwillis\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>He insisted Louetta (pictured above in April) has \u201cnever suffered for any want in [his] care.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">rumerwillis\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Thomas, meanwhile, insisted, \u201c[Louetta] never suffered for any want in my care, has never been injured in any way, has not suffered trauma or emotional or physical abuse of any kind nor been neglected at any time she\u2019s been in my care. [Rumer] fails to detail, even a single credible instance of any mistreatment or neglect by me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere in the documents, Rumer accused Thomas\u2019 alleged antics of causing \u201chigh stress and chaos\u201d during her visits to Los Angeles to visit her \u201cextremely ill\u201d father, Bruce, who <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2023\/02\/16\/bruce-willis-condition-worsens-family-reveals-new-diagnosis\/\">suffers from frontotemporal dementia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She also claimed Thomas has not paid her \u201cany support\u201d \u2014 and expects her \u201cwealthy family to take care of everything,\u201d which she claimed is impossible as she \u201cdoes not rely on her parents for her expenses to be paid [and is] going to be in severe debt with attorney fees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moore, 63, weighed in on Rumer\u2019s claims in one filing, breaking down Thomas\u2019 allegedly \u201caggressive\u201d behavior during Louetta\u2019s birth.<\/p>\n<p>The actress alleged, \u201c[He had] no consideration to Rumer, the baby, the process, or anyone else for that matter. He essentially ruined what should\u2019ve been one of the happiest moments of her life.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Rumer above). <span class=\"credit\">Rumer Willis\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Thomas\u2019 lawyer told the outlet Rumer\u2019s filings were \u201csubstantially inaccurate and replete with false allegations,\u201d adding, \u201cDerek Thomas is an excellent father who wants nothing more than to be a fully responsible, committed, caring and devoted father to their child.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thomas and Rumer <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2022\/11\/16\/rumer-willis-confirms-derek-richard-thomas-relationship\/\">went public with their romance<\/a> in November 2022, with the latter <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2022\/12\/20\/rumer-willis-pregnant-expecting-first-baby-with-derek-richard-thomas\/\">debuting her baby bump<\/a> the following month.<\/p>\n<p>Their split news broke in August 2024, with Rumer revealing via Instagram Stories that she was \u201csingle-moming it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The duo reached a temporary custody agreement in August 2025, per Us Weekly, which allowed Thomas six hours per day for up to three to four days per week in Los Angeles or Sun Valley, Idaho.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Rumer gave birth to Louetta in April 2023. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image custody case \u2014 Rumer called Idaho Louetta\u2019s \u201chome,\u201d while Thomas claimed Rumer relocated there without his permission \u2014 a judge dubbed California the correct venue in January.<\/p>\n<p>Rumer broke her silence on the breakup in an \u201cInside Edit\u201d podcast interview last week, claiming the relationship <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/20\/celebrity-news\/rumer-willis-exposes-the-reckoning-moment-that-led-her-to-end-brutal-relationship-with-daughters-father\/\">had been \u201cbrutal<\/a> and
