Do not proceed unless you\u2019ve watched \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d episode 4, \u201cStart With a Bullet.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The fourth episode of <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/14\/entertainment\/yellowstone-spinoff-dutton-ranch-is-a-winner-review\/\">\u201cYellowstone\u201d spinoff \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d <\/a>takes a devastating turn for Rip (Cole Hauser) and Beth (Kelly Reilly). <\/p>\n<p>The couple has had to start over numerous times, after her father John\u2019s (Kevin Costner) death on \u201cYellowstone,\u201d then, \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d began with their previous ranch burning down. Just when they think they\u2019re settled in Texas, they\u2019re forced to execute their entire prized herd of cattle, because it gets ravaged by foot-and-mouth disease.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Cole Hauser\u2019s Rip and Kelly Reilly\u2019s Beth (pictured on \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d) have a harrowing time.  <span class=\"credit\">Emerson Miller\/Paramount+<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cDutton Ranch\u201d turns deadly for cows (pictured).  <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/15\/entertainment\/dutton-ranch-cast-on-the-new-yellowstone-spinoff-and-not-working-with-taylor-sheridan-at-all\/\">actor plays Zachariah<\/a>, one of Rip\u2019s ranch hands who helps him execute the cattle and build the mass grave for the animals.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Beth refers to the harrowing event as a \u201cfuneral.\u201d\u00a0Her cowboy husband tells Zachariah and his other ranch hand, Azul (J.\u00a0 Villarreal), \u201cThis will be one of those days that follow you to the grave. If either of you want to walk [away], I won\u2019t hold it against you.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rip, Azul and Zachariah corner all the cows into a pit, where Rip shoots them so that the deadly disease doesn\u2019t spread.\u00a0Rip tells Beth to go home, but she stays to support him.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Marc Menchaca (pictured with Kelly Reilly on \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d) called it \u201csomber.\u201d  <span class=\"credit\">Emerson Miller\/Paramount+<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Christina Alexandra Voros (pictured at the \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d premiere with Kelly Reilly) called the sequence \u201cpowerful.\u201d  <span class=\"credit\">Chris Rodriguez \/AdMedia \/ SplashNews.com<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As Rip aims his gun at his own animals, he whispers to them, \u201cyou don\u2019t deserve this.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She called it a \u201chuge endeavor\u201d and said they had about 150 head of cattle on the show.\u00a0\u201cOur animal coordination team did an incredible job keeping the animals safe.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Beth and Rip (pictured on \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d) find out their cattle heard was sabotaged.  <span class=\"credit\">Emerson Miller\/Paramount+<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Beth (pictured on \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d) calls the cattle execution a \u201cfuneral.\u201d  <span class=\"credit\">Paramount+<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cYellowstone\u201d mastermind Taylor Sheridan executive produces the show, but he\u2019s more hands off, as Voros has been overseeing it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTaylor is very good at pulling a team of people together that he trusts. He has so many shows happening at once, that the longer you\u2019ve been in the family, the more responsibility you get as you go along,\u201d she explained.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Rip and Beth (pictured on \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d) burn down the trailer of the man who sold the diseased cow.  <span class=\"credit\">Paramount+<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Menchaca, Reilly, J.R. Villarreal and Hauser (pictured on \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d) were all part of the sequence.  <span class=\"credit\">Emerson Miller\/Paramount+<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It turns out that Rip and Beth were sabotaged. In an earlier episode, they bought a diseased cow at auction with fudged records incorrectly giving the animal a clean bill of health.
