The superstar died at the age of 64. <span class=\"credit\">Michael Ochs Archives\/Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The R&amp;B vocalist\u2019s career began when he was only 11, releasing his self-titled first album in 1973, which included the big hit \u201cMisdemeanor\u201d as well as minor hits like \u201cI\u2019m Your Puppet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The child star reached even greater commercial success when he began playing bass in the Sylvers, a soul band whose members were composed of many of his own siblings.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Sylvers most notably played bass on the Sylvers\u2019 1975 album <em>Showdown<\/em>, which included the iconic 70\u2019s hit \u201cBoogie Fever.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>The Sylvers (L-R Pat,James Sylvers, Foster Sylvers, Edmund Sylvers, Ricky Sylvers and Angie Sylvers) pose for a portrait on the beach in May, 1978 in Los Angeles, California. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Foster Sylvers of The Sylvers poses for a portrait at the beach on May 10, 1978 in Los Angeles, California. <span class=\"credit\">Michael Ochs Archives\/Getty Images)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A period of failing commercial prospects started to plague the Sylvers in the 80s, leading Sylvers to begin collaborative projects with other artists, like Dynasty and Evelyn \u201cChampagne\u201d King, as well as his own solo projects.<\/p>\n<p>The R&amp;B vocalist\u2019s later life was also marred by legal issues.<\/p>\n<p>Sylvers was convinced of a sex offense in 1994 for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman, and had to register as a sex offender in the state of California.<\/p>\n<p><em>This is a breaking story.
