It was just really exciting for me.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Slater revealed she was approached about the opportunity while the \u201cDWTS\u201d cast was in New York City for the 2026 Disney Upfront event on May 12, giving her just 18 days to get runway ready.<\/p>\n<p>For flawless-looking skin, she prioritized her beauty routine with a daily mix of Korean skincare products she loves: the \u201camazing\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/arencia.us\/products\/booster-shot-skin-renewal-duo-vitamin-c-retinal-for-dark-spots-pore-minimizing-acne-scars\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-nyp-affiliate=\"true\">Booster Shot Skin Renewal Duo from Arencia<\/a> ($39.99) that she \u201cfound on social media,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cosrx.com\/products\/the-peptide-collagen-hydrogel-eye-patch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-nyp-affiliate=\"true\">eye patches from COSRX<\/a> ($23), <a href=\"https:\/\/en.abib.com\/products\/vegan-collagen-gel-mask-sedum-jelly\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sheet masks from Abib<\/a> ($20), as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/beautyofjoseon.com\/products\/day-dew-sunscreen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-nyp-affiliate=\"true\">sunscreen<\/a> (<s>$20<\/s> $14.40) and <a href=\"https:\/\/beautyofjoseon.com\/products\/dynasty-cream\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-nyp-affiliate=\"true\">Dynasty Cream<\/a> (<s>$15<\/s> $12) from Beauty of Joseon that\u2019s \u201cchanged\u201d her skin in \u201cso many ways.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The pro dancer also relied on a tried-and-true beauty hack she\u2019s no stranger to as a \u201cDWTS\u201d performer \u2014 a good spray tan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor SI Swim specifically, we used a Dolce Glow spray tan. I also used a <a href=\"https:\/\/dolceglow.com\/products\/mia?variant=38136543281301\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-nyp-affiliate=\"true\">Dolce Glow instant bronzer<\/a> ($48). On the day of, I just put that on, and it\u2019s got a really nice sheen.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Slater (pictured above in Miami Beach) had just 18 days to get runway ready. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images for Sports Illustrated<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The choreographer told us she took a low-effort approach in the days leading up to it, prioritizing skincare, avoiding food that made her bloat and taking walks to get in a positive mindset. <span class=\"credit\">Courtesy of Emma Slater for Page Six<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI have to be honest, I had the mentality of, \u2018I\u2019m gonna walk the runway the way that I am, and I don\u2019t want to put myself on a crazy diet,&#8217;\u201d the former mirrorball champion revealed. \u201cI didn\u2019t want to do the whole water fast or anything like that \u2026 I just tried not to eat foods that really bloat me, like fruit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor exercise, I didn\u2019t really [work out] at all. I remember the day of, I went for a long walk, but really that was more for the mental side,\u201d she continued. \u201cI just came off our huge tour. We did 97 shows in 111 days, so my body was still in tour kind of shape. I did a few workout classes after tour leading up to this, reformer Pilates, and then honestly, that was it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Slater was also busy with fittings leading up to the main event. It really felt like, \u2018I\u2019m running the walkway, and I\u2019ve got to learn how to do that,&#8217;\u201d she recalled, telling us the dragon fit was the third look she tried.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI walked out of the changing room and the lady who was in charge of the fitting was immediately like, \u2018Yes, this is it, it\u2019s such a vibe! This is exactly what we want.\u2019 I was really happy because I also really liked that one too,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought I was going to enjoy the bikinis more because I\u2019m like, \u2018Sports Illustrated, oh my God, I\u2019ll wear a two-piece, it\u2019ll be really fun.\u2019 But I was actually really digging this. Growing up in England, I did not grow up in a setting where you go to the beach, wearing like really skimpy thongs or anything like that. It\u2019s quite different now, but I didn\u2019t grow up like that, and I was always very conscious that my bum is [big]. I always wanted it to be smaller,\u201d she admitted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank God that curvier bums have come into fashion, but I still would kind of carry around a very self-conscious image, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DT_iZcfDUdk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">especially around my legs<\/a>, my thighs, my bum. I\u2019ve got some strong calves going on; I inherited them from my dad. But now I kind of look at that and go, \u2018I\u2019ve got the same legs as my dad, and I love that. I love my dad. I love how strong my legs look. I love that I can get them out.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Slater also knew confidence would be key on show day, telling us, \u201cI just wanted to walk the runway looking like myself and being proud of that rather than feeling under pressure.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">MediaPunch \/ BACKGRID<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cA few years ago, it probably would have been hard for me to walk the runway, I\u2019m not gonna lie,\u201d she admitted. \u201cI think I would have felt very insecure, but thankfully, I\u2019ve done a lot of work on myself and I now feel really comfortable.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Slater loves that there\u2019s \u201ca lot more positivity\u201d nowadays around embracing different body types, which she was thrilled to see on the SI Swimsuit Runway, too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery time I\u2019ve opened up and been vulnerable about [insecurities], I\u2019ve always had such a heap of support rushing in. It\u2019s really made me feel stronger about sharing that, and feeling better and good about myself. And I do,\u201d she exclaimed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA few years ago, it probably would have been hard for me to walk the runway, I\u2019m not gonna lie. I think I would have felt very insecure, but thankfully, I\u2019ve done a lot of work on myself and I now feel really comfortable. So that\u2019s honestly the biggest takeaway I got from this, is that I must have really grown in my mindset because I was able to do that and feel really comfortable with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlso, the good thing about Sports Illustrated is, I feel like there were a lot of different body types represented on the runway,\u201d she continued, \u201cand that just even more makes me feel so hopeful in the fact that the beauty standards are being challenged to some of the damaging standards that we\u2019ve seen in the past. It\u2019s great to do things together. We\u2019ve all got a very special bond,\u201d Slater shared. \u201cAnd all the ladies [in the show] were really welcoming and lovely. I feel like even in such a short period of time, I made some friends. While his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DY_fzUQt2zT\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">signature knee walks<\/a> certainly made headlines, so did an unfortunate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@youngerbod\/video\/7645925777627794719\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">onstage slip-up that was caught on camera<\/a> between him and Slater. However, like the true pros they are, the two quickly got up and re-filmed the dance section without missing a beat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou won\u2019t see that [on the live show] because we ran through the dance a couple of times,\u201d Slater revealed, noting that they were dancing on wet Plexiglass due to rain that day. \u201cWe [performed] without shoes because we had a better grip, but it was still really, really hard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat you saw there was basically a product of all the dancers trying to grip their feet,\u201d she added. \u201cI got with Val and I think the floor just got away from him. I think he probably also tried to catch me when I was falling; he\u2019s just a very solid dance partner like that,\u201d she continued. \u201cBut lucky for us, we really <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@emmaslaterofficial\/video\/7646094152446250254\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">just laughed about it<\/a>.
