He said it quickly became clear that it was not a routine <a target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/missing-persons\" rel=\"follow\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">missing persons<\/a> case.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Speaking to <a target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ladbible.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">Ladbible, <\/a>he said Simpson-Kent had claimed Blake had left with the boys \u2014 something that raised immediate concerns given her condition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">He said: \u201cIt just didn\u2019t sit right, she couldn\u2019t look after herself, how could she look after herself and these two little boys? So, we decided that we would now going to treat it as a murder unless proven otherwise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cSo we went back to her house and a colleague of mine went in and one of the first things they noticed was, in the kitchen, there were obvious signs of trauma, but it had been painted over as if somebody had been trying to cover up the crime scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Keogh said investigators later used UV light to reveal signs of trauma in the kitchen that had been painted over. To have that hope that. You have that acceptance that something\u2019s happened to Sian.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cBut you have that hope that, not the boys, why would he hurt the boys?
