According to the Cleveland Clinic<\/a>, a hiatal hernia is defined as a condition that \u201chappens when the top of your stomach bulges through an opening in your diaphragm.\u201d <\/p>\nTurturro \u2014 who famously played Sigler\u2019s aunt on the HBO drama \u2014 then explained that she was referred to a doctor who informed her that she needed to visit a cardiologist. <\/p>\n
\u201cI get in my car, I walk to my house\u2026 my cousin gave me his doctor\u2019s number, his doctor answered and he\u2019s like, \u2018It sounds like you might need to go to a cardiologist.\u2019 I go to the doctor, [an] amazing doctor, and he\u2019s like, \u2018Yeah, you had a heart attack,’\u201d she recalled. <\/p>\nThe actress (seen in an episode of \u201cThe Sopranos\u201d) recalled calling a doctor, who then informed her that she had suffered a heart attack and rushed her into emergency surgery. HBO<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nAt which point, doctors told her that \u201c88 to 99 percent\u201d of her arteries were clogged and she was \u201crushed to emergency\u201d where she underwent quadruple bypass surgery. <\/p>\n
\u201cNow I\u2019m bionic, and I\u2019ve always been bionic,\u201d she joked, potentially hinting that she now uses an artificial heart device. <\/p>\n
\u201cI could\u2019ve died, I should\u2019ve died then, but I didn\u2019t,\u201d she said of the experience.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was lucky it wasn\u2019t my time \u2026 diabetes is the number one cause of heart disease,\u201d said Turturro, who was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2001.<\/p>\n\u201cI could\u2019ve died, I should\u2019ve died then, but I didn\u2019t,\u201d Turturro (pictured above at the 25th anniversary celebration of the \u201cSopranos\u201d) said. \u201cWe can always do better but it\u2019s really about, don\u2019t do nothing. You can\u2019t help your kids, you can\u2019t help your family if you don\u2019t do you. Get everybody involved [because] this is a priority. This is our life, we\u2019re doing this together.\u201d<\/p>\n
Turturro and Sigler\u2019s former co-star James Gandolfini also suffered a heart attack in 2013, which led to his tragic death at 51 years old. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
