Earlier that morning he had stabbed to death students Barnaby Webber and Grace O&#8217;Malley-Kumar, both 19, who were coming home from a night out, and 65-year-old school caretaker Ian Coates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Paul Devlin, chairman of the trust until December last year, has already admitted there was a &#8220;missed opportunity&#8221; to take steps that could have prevented evil <a target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Calocane's violent rampageLink opens in a new tab.\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/uk-news\/nottingham-inquiry-valdo-calocane-brother-37151905\" rel=\"follow\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_blank\">Calocane&#8217;s violent rampage<\/a>, which left three dead. was made to keep Mr Birkett &#8220;apace&#8221; with what was happening. Ms Waxman told the inquiry: &#8220;This is their basic rights not being delivered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;And again the frustration with this Victims&#8217; Code sets out 12 overarching rights, including what victims of crime are entitled to receive from bodies such as the police and courts. <!-- -->During his evidence in March, Mr Birkett said he wanted to know the &#8220;severity&#8221; of what Calocane did but that his family liaison officer, now retired detective constable Raj Johal, did not tell him about the killer&#8217;s previous interactions with the police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Calocane had contact with the police multiple times from May 2020, including incidents when he assaulted his flatmate and punched a police officer. <!-- -->Ms Johal told the inquiry she &#8220;didn&#8217;t know&#8221; to learn via the media that police had previous dealings with Calocane and that there had been a warrant out for his arrest before the attacks. <!-- -->In a written statement, Mr Webber&#8217;s mother Emma Webber said Friday marks the &#8220;end of an exhausting, brutal and deeply traumatising&#8221; 16 weeks&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">She added: &#8220;Throughout this inquiry, we have heard evidence that has confirmed what we feared all along &#8211; that there were grievous failings across multiple organisations.
