On Sunday he was buzzing around tables in his orange uniform on West 13th Street asking, \u201cWhy are these onion rings taking so long?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Cameron Scott Roberts works at Cecchi\u2019s restaurant in the West Village \u2014 and is a star of the new \u201cScary Movie.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Luiz C. Ribeiro for NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>By Tuesday, Roberts was on a plane to California for the glam premiere, where <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/03\/entertainment\/scary-movie-premiere-red-carpet-anna-faris-marlon-wayans-shawn-wayans-and-more\/\">he walked the red carpet <\/a>with Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Cheri Oteri and the Wayans brothers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And then \u2014 here\u2019s some showbiz whiplash \u2014 he goes back to serving steaks and pork chops and nimbly balancing cocktails on a tray this Saturday. He wouldn\u2019t have it any other way.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a huge believer that actors should be waiters,\u201d boyish Roberts told me during his shift on Sunday, while in-the-know regulars excitedly congratulated him. \u201cIt\u2019s good for us. It keeps us grounded. And it\u2019s a great way to stay on our feet while we\u2019re auditioning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roberts, who plays the boyfriend of the female ingenue Sara (Olivia Rose Keegan) in Paramount\u2019s parody flick, first learned about the big audition at the restaurant, where he\u2019s worked since January 2025, while the staff was noshing.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were all eating family meal together,\u201d Roberts said. \u201cI get the email and I read the description. It said, \u2018This character is handsome in a serial killer kind of way.\u2019\u00a0 All the employees in the restaurant were in the room. And they all went, \u2018Oh, you\u2019re gonna get it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They were right. Dead right. His three-year-old restaurant has become a haven for artists. <\/p>\n<p>Roberts actually wanted to join Cecchi-Azzolina\u2019s team after reading his tell-all memoir, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/11\/26\/tales-from-the-table-a-new-york-city-maitre-d-tells-all\/\">Your Table is Ready: Tales of a New York City Ma\u00eetre D<\/a>,\u2019\u201d about what really went down in the city\u2019s hottest eateries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was like, \u2018The way you talk about acting as well as waiting tables and those two things helping one another really moved me,\u2019\u201d he told his future boss. Roberts has become a popular fixture at the hotspot. He said a celeb recently tipped him $900 on a $900 bill.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Down south in September, Roberts got to act alongside much of the original \u201cScary Movie\u201d cast, including Shawn and Marlon Wayans, who returned to write the screenplay with their siblings for the first time in 25 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen Marlon gets on camera, it\u2019s like he takes control and allows himself to play around and come up with ideas and improv.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Roberts attended the film premiere in LA. <span class=\"credit\">Jim Ruymen\/UPI\/Shutterstock<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The actor said co-stars such as Marlon Wayans and Dave Sheridan encouraged him to play around. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images for Paramount Pictures<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The young actor noticed that same adventurous spirit in Dave Sheridan, who\u2019s back as Doofy Gilmore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was like the wildest guy in the whole movie,\u201d Roberts said. \u201cHe tried absolutely everything, and it gave me the power to try that by the end of the shoot. On our last day of filming, I remember I came in with an idea. I didn\u2019t tell anybody about it. I just did it. And nobody said a single thing about it in a positive way, and nobody said anything about it in a negative way. But it made it in the movie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cScary Movie\u201d is poised to have a big opening weekend. It\u2019s expected to gross upwards of $45 million and take the No. 1 spot at the box office \u2014 a rarity for a big-screen comedy today.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Roberts, however, is mostly concerned with his coworkers seeing it. He\u2019s taking them in the next few days.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody\u2019s invited, which will be fun. And I said I\u2019d get people\u2019s popcorn,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The actor is taking his restaurant coworkers out for a special screening of the film. <span class=\"credit\">Luiz C.
