Do not proceed unless you\u2019ve watched \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d episode 5, \u201cPeaceful Find Peace.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Things are getting fatal on \u201cDutton Ranch.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the fifth episode of the \u201cYellowstone\u201d spinoff show, Carter (Finn Little) is distraught when his new friend, Dwight (Ray McKinnon), is killed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>In the latest episode of \u201cDutton Ranch,\u201d Dwight (played by Ray McKinnon) is killed.  <span class=\"credit\">Paramount +<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The character was a friend of Carter (played by Finn Little), who is Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler\u2019s adopted son. <span class=\"credit\">Lauren \u00e2Lo\u00e2 Smith\/Paramount+<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Carter is the adopted son of Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser).\u00a0He\u2019s been with the couple since the original \u201cYellowstone\u201d series (<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/28\/entertainment\/yellowstone-creator-taylor-sheridan-is-king-of-dad-tv-shows\/\">created by Taylor Sheridan<\/a>) and moved to Texas with them for the spinoff. <\/p>\n<p>The 19-year-old is still in high school, but resents it. So, behind Beth and Rip\u2019s backs, Carter secretly began skipping school to work for Dwight, an aging cowboy who likes to drink, nap and dish out advice.<\/p>\n<p>Viewers learn that Dwight had a leopard in an enclosure on his property, which impressed another character, Oreana Jackson (<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/22\/entertainment\/dutton-ranch-star-likes-driving-vintage-bronco-hitting-men-on-yellowstone-spinoff\/\">played by Natalie Alyn Lind<\/a>), when Carter invited his romantic interest over.<\/p>\n<p>At one point in the latest episode, cops storm Dwight\u2019s property as he and Carter attempt to run.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Sheriff Wade (played by Josh Stewart, pictured at the \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d premiere on May 12) and his cops kill Dwight.  <span class=\"credit\">WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Carter (pictured on \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d) had been secretly working for Dwight.  <span class=\"credit\">Lauren \u00e2Lo\u00e2 Smith\/Paramount+<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The cops used excessive force to tackle Carter \u2014 and kill Dwight. As Carter was pinned to the ground, he cried, seeing Dwight\u2019s dead body.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe had a knife,\u201d Sheriff Wade (played by Josh Stewart) explained, justifying why the cops killed the cowboy. <\/p>\n<p>However, it seems like they just came up with that reason as an excuse.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the episode, Sheriff Wade brings Carter to an interrogation room at the police station.\u00a0He proceeded to tell Carter that Dwight was a \u201cdrunkard,\u201d an \u201cinsurance fraudster\u201d and a \u201cthief\u201d who \u201cstole from the sick and elderly.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Carter is distraught after Dwight gets killed and seeks comfort from Oreana, played by Natalie Alyn Lind (seen above). <span class=\"credit\">Lauren Smith\/Paramount+<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Beth and Rip (pictured together here on \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d) didn\u2019t know that Carter was working for Dwight.  <span class=\"credit\">Emerson Miller\/Paramount+<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Carter fired back, \u201cHe was my friend. You killed him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sheriff Wade then told Carter not to be a repeat offender like Dwight \u2014 and to \u201cthink real hard about where that got him.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>He also told the boy to stop asking questions about what happened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou weren\u2019t there tonight, you never saw a thing \u2026 never say a word,\u201d the sheriff threatened.<\/p>\n<p>Later, after\u00a0Carter left the police station, he called Oreana to pick him up and cried as she comforted him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Meanwhile, Rip and Beth (pictured above in an episode of \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d) work with Beulah Jackson (Annette Bening). <span class=\"credit\">Emerson Miller\/Paramount+<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Rip and Beth (pictured on \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d) are unaware of Carter\u2019s drama.  <span class=\"credit\">Emerson Miller\/Paramount+<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Meanwhile, Beth and Rip strike up an uneasy alliance working with Oreana\u2019s formidable grandmother, Beulah Jackson (Annette Bening), who runs the ranch next door to them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While they intend for this arrangement to be temporary, Rip still cautions Beth to be careful with the partnership, as Beulah seems dangerous.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDutton Ranch\u201d airs Fridays at 8 p.m ET on Paramount+ and Paramount Network.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/05\/entertainment\/dutton-ranch-kills-off-a-cowboy-in-latest-episode-of-yellowstone-spinoff\/\" target=\"_blank\">Source link<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Warning: Spoilers ahead!
