A violent attacker who stabbed a man multiple times and kicked a woman in the face has been handed a prison sentence, despite fleeing the county and dyeing his hair in a bid to evade justice.<\/p>\n

Joshua Moore, 21, launched the assault on the woman, who was known to him, as they walked down a communal staircase at a property in Sturminster Newton on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, leaving her with bruising around her right eye.<\/p>\n

According to Dorset Police<\/a>, a male friend of the victim, both aged in their 30s, stepped in to confront Moore over the attack. During the ensuing altercation, the man was stabbed with a four-inch lock knife, sustaining three stab wounds to his body and arm before being rushed to hospital.<\/p>\n

Moore made off from the scene on foot, and despite officers scouring the area, he was nowhere to be found. Following a thorough investigation, he was eventually tracked down to a hotel in Petersfield, Hampshire, on Thursday, October 2. Dorset Police revealed he had dyed his blond hair jet black in an attempt to disguise himself.<\/p>\n

Moore, from Weymouth, was subsequently arrested and charged. Following a trial, he was convicted of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and assault by beating, and was sentenced to five years behind bars on Friday, June 5, 2026, reports Somerset Live<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Detective Constable Emma Oram, of Dorset County CID, said: “This was a violent assault with a knife and, while it left the victim with significant injuries, the consequences could have been far worse and even fatal.<\/p>\n

“We are committed to raising awareness of the dangers of knife crime and taking robust action against anyone responsible for offences of this nature.<\/p>\n

“Thanks to our comprehensive investigation, we were able to track down the defendant when he had left the county and ensure he was held to account for his crimes.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
