I\u2019ve been trying so hard to hold it together and I promise I will \u2014 this show and this hour especially is about joy,\u201d the journalist<a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/video\/savannah-guthrie-on-how-she-navigates-return-to-work-and-grief-264728645914\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> said through tears <\/a>during the fourth hour of the talkshow Monday, which she co-hosted with her <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/07\/celebrity-news\/sheinelle-jones-and-jenna-bush-hager-rally-around-coworker\/\">colleague and close pal, Jenna Bush Hager<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut having you and people behind-the-scenes, people in my ear, the producers, our castmates. When I see you in the morning, I know that you see me. No matter what is going on.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Savannah Guthrie teared up on TV Monday as she addressed her return to the \u201cToday\u201d show amid her mom Nancy Guthrie\u2019s disappearance. <span class=\"credit\">TODAY\/NBC<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cIt\u2019s really hard to come back. I\u2019ve been trying so hard to hold it together,\u201d she told co-host Jenna Bush Hager during the fourth hour of Monday\u2019s show. <span class=\"credit\">TODAY\/NBC<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>She added, \u201cSometimes it\u2019s almost too much because I feel like to do the job I got to keep it together, pull it together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Savannah, 54, explained that while the \u201cToday\u201d show is her \u201clittle respite\u201d where she can focus on something else just for a little, her mom\u2019s kidnapping is still constantly at the forefront of her mind.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/11\/entertainment\/savannah-guthrie-has-been-tearing-up-off-camera-at-today-as-search-for-missing-mom-nancy-continues\/\">cry every morning on the way to work<\/a> and I cry every morning on the way home,\u201d she admitted, noting that if she had \u201cany other kind of job [she] wouldn\u2019t [have] even tried to come back.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Savannah explained that since she is so close with Bush Hager, it feels harder to \u201cpull it together.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">TODAY<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cI know that you see me. No matter what is going on,\u201d Savannah said to her co-host and friend (pictured above with Nancy Guthrie in 2019). <span class=\"credit\">NBCU Photo Bank\/NBCUniversal via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Savannah also shared that she didn\u2019t know if she was emotionally ready to fill in as the co-host for \u201cToday\u201d with Jenna &amp; Sheinelle, two months after her <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/04\/06\/celebrity-news\/inside-savannah-guthries-today-return\/\">return as an anchor<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s hard when you\u2019re with your best friend to not be real, I was afraid in a way to do this show with you. I couldn\u2019t look at you in this sort of setting where we just talk about life and not tell the truth about my life,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know maybe people wonder like, \u2018What\u2019s going on? How is she able to do that job? Is she not thinking about it, did she forget?\u2019 No, never. Never.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Savannah also said that although the talkshow is her  \u201clittle respite,\u201d her mom\u2019s disappearance is always on her mind. <span class=\"credit\">savannahguthrie\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cI cry every morning on the way to work and I cry every morning on the way home,\u201d she admitted.  <span class=\"credit\">savannahguthrie\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She continued, \u201cWe still need everybody\u2019s prayers and we still wish someone would call and say what they know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Savannah noted that she is \u201cgrateful\u201d to have \u201cgreat friends,\u201d and to be able to \u201ccome to such a beautiful, joyous and supportive place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She also explained how she is able to balance her mix of emotions since returning to the NBC show.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>But the journalist hasn\u2019t given up hope, and asked the audience for their continued prayers for her mom. <span class=\"credit\">savannahguthrie\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>She also hopes \u201csomeone would call and say what they know\u201d about her 84-year-old mother\u2019s kidnapping. <span class=\"credit\">savannahguthrie\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cLike so many people out there, you can hold all of these things together,\u201d she shared. \u201cI try to tell my kids that too.
