ABC teased a rare upcoming interview with Richard Simmons\u2019 house manager, who is expected to share details of his final moments \u2014 and a secret from the fitness star\u2019s life that saw him retreat from public life <\/a>for a decade. <\/p>\n In a trailer for the upcoming special\u00a0<\/a>\u201cThe Mystery of Richard Simmons: A Diane Sawyer Special\u201d \u2014 which is set to air May 12 \u2014 the fitness guru\u2019s longtime house manager, Teresa Reveles, said it\u2019s \u201cthe first time [she\u2019s] spoken about\u201d his death and his disappearance from the spotlight from 2014 until his 2024 death. <\/p>\n A narrator is heard asking, \u201cAnd what does Richard\u2019s live-in housekeeper \u2014 the last person to see him alive \u2014 now say happened behind closed doors?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Reveles then said, \u201cWhen I came here, then I saw him on the floor.\u201d <\/p>\n The special will also feature interviews with Richard\u2019s brother Lenny Simmons and his wife Cathy Simmons, as well as with longtime manager Michael Catalano and close friend Rosie O\u2019Donnell \u2014 and glimpses inside the fitness legend\u2019s Hollywood home. <\/p>\n In the trailer, which promises to \u201cpull back the curtain on the mystery,\u201d Cathy and Lenny told Sawyer that the TV star \u201chad to be in a lot of pain\u201d prior to his death at age 76<\/a> from a tragic fall and underlying heart disease. <\/p>\n O\u2019Donnell told Sawyer in the clip that she felt Richard \u201cloved people back to health.\u201d <\/p>\n Simmons died July 13, 2024, at his home \u2014 just one day after his 76th birthday.<\/p>\n Reveles \u2014 who worked for Simmons for 35 years and called herself his \u201ccompanion\u201d \u2014 previously spoke out about his death<\/a>, just weeks after the tragic loss, saying that he \u201cdied happy.\u201d <\/a><\/p>\n She found Simmons in his bedroom after the fatal fall, telling People in July 2024, \u201cWhen I saw him, he looked peaceful.\u201d<\/p>\n Reveles also recalled connecting with the beloved TV personality through an agency in 1986, and his subsequent prediction that they\u2019d continue on for years to come. <\/p>\n \u201cI showed up in here and Richard says to me, \u2018Where are your clothes? Where is your big suitcase?\u2019 I said, \u2018I just bring the little suitcase because I only try this for two weeks. If you don\u2019t like me or you don\u2019t like my cooking, then I can\u2019t work.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n She recalled him telling her, \u201cyou are never going to leave. We are going to be together until I die.\u201d<\/p>\n Reveles added, \u201cAnd you know what? His dream came true. He knew somehow.\u201d<\/p>\n Simmons eerily told People the day before he died that he was \u201cgrateful\u201d to be alive. <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI feel good! I am grateful that I\u2019m here, that I am alive for another day,\u201d\u00a0he told the outlet in an interview published July 12, 2024. <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll spend my birthday doing what I do every day, which is to help people.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
