He was so dedicated to his art which I admired and respected so deeply.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>New York-based singer Martinez paid tribute to Tree\u2019s creativity and joked about the stunts he would be performing in heaven.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI think everyone who knew him will look back at those moments of laughter and joy he so easily sparked,\u201d she wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis laugh was so contagious and warm.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis ability to lead creatively and take action while also maintaining a sense of childlike wonder and awe was so inspiring. He had such a soft heart and was a true artist in every way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRest in peace Oliver. I know you\u2019re making the angels giggle. I\u2019ll be here wondering what stunt and creative project you\u2019re scheming up in heaven. I already told you guys we ended things mutually years ago and on good terms.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve said before how much it upsets me when you guys bully people on the internet. Please stay positive and be kind toward one another.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During a sit-down with the YouTuber and comedian Anthony Padilla, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/E2quqfQIzEE\">Tree spoke about<\/a> how the online hate had impacted him.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>OIiver Tree documented his adventures in Brazil before the crash. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/@iae.break<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He told Padilla he was bombarded with more hate after Martinez told fans to leave him alone.<\/p>\n<p>Martinez released her \u201cMoon Cycle\u201d track in 2023 and fans speculated it was about her relationship with Tree \u2013 which she emphatically denied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMoon cycle isn\u2019t about Oliver,\u201d she said. \u201cIt isn\u2019t about anyone. This doesn\u2019t even make sense, please stop making things up and leave him alone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been something that\u2019s just kind of brought me to a pretty severe place of depression,\u201d Tree said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Tree posed for snaps on the red carpet at the 2024 Brit Awards. <span class=\"credit\">Redferns<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cPeople don\u2019t realize that what they say or do has an impact on people, they think it\u2019s not heard or not noticed, but yeah, it f\u2013ks people up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tree \u2014 known for his distinctive hairstyle, a bowl-cut mullet hybrid \u00a0\u2013 was on board one of the helicopters carrying five people. Only the pilot was on board the second aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>Argentine influencer Gaspi \u2013 who has 7.5 million social media followers \u2013 was on the same helicopter as Oliver Tree and he was also killed.<\/p>\n<p>Lucas Vignale, Lucas Brito Chaves and pilot Alexandre Souza were killed.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Oliver Tree and Melanie Martinez sharing a piece of spaghetti. <span class=\"credit\">Crybaby\/Facebook<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Charles Marsillac \u2013 the sole pilot in the other helicopter \u2013 was described by pals as a \u201cloving family man,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnnbrasil.com.br\/nacional\/sudeste\/rj\/cantor-oliver-tree-e-um-dos-mortos-em-acidente-aereo-no-rio-veja-vitimas\/#goog_rewarded\">CNN reported.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe people who flew with him admired him for his seriousness and commitment,\u201d a friend said of the dad of three children.<\/p>\n<p>The two helicopters collided over an electric car lot, and 20 vehicles were set ablaze.<\/p>\n<p>One of the helicopters was in flames, and the person in the other jumped out before it smashed into the ground.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was terrifying, absolutely horrifying,\u201d Fernandes de Freitas, a tire repair worker, said.<\/p>\n<p>Officials say the cause of the collision is still under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Singer-songwriter Bebe Rexha, Washington DC-born comedian Whitney Cummings, and internet star Andy Milonakis have also paid tribute to Tree.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRIP Oliver Tree.
