He fled the scene and made his way to a nearby railway station where he told a group of young people gathered there that he had stabbed a child, Bristol Crown Court heard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cYou\u2019ll see it on the news later,\u201d he told them. \u201cI was playing around with a knife. (She) walked into the knife. I accidentally stabbed her with a really big knife.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">He told one of the group, who he knew: \u201cYo (name) I\u2019m a murderer. He then said, \u2018I\u2019m done for. Why have I done this\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In a prepared statement to detectives the teenager said: \u201cI grabbed a knife and stabbed her in the chest. I didn\u2019t use a lot of force, but it was a big knife. I don\u2019t know why I did it, it just happened.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cI walked over and stabbed her. She fell to the floor. I left and went to the train station to get a train and to get away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The teen, who cannot be named for legal reasons, denies charges of murder and manslaughter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Ray Tully KC, prosecuting, told the jury: \u201cHe admits that he had hold of the knife in his hand at the time the fatal wound occurred.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">He told the assembled jurors that he had jabbed the knife towards Aria in order to scare her.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cHe expected her to \u2018flinch\u2019,\u201d Mr Tully said. \u201cInstead \u2018she moved towards him and was fatally wounded\u2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cSoon after the fatal incident, he told a group of young people that Aria had either \u2018walked\u2019 or \u2018run\u2019 on to the blade of the knife as he was holding it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The court heard that the emergency services had been alerted after Aria\u2019s body had been discovered in the house.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">A post mortem found that Aria had suffered a single stab wound to the chest and would have \u201cdied very swiftly from her injury\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The defendant had had his mobile phone confiscated before the alleged incident, Mr Tully told the court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cA big part of any young person\u2019s life these days is their use of a mobile phone. It is the means by which they communicate with each other and the rest of the world,\u201d he said. \u201cThat appears to have been no different for the defendant. As he said during the police interview, his mobile phone represented \u2018freedom\u2019 to him \u2013 it was that important to him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cAs part of the investigation, the police have done some work to build up a picture of his use of his phone. The picture that emerged is of someone who was certainly a heavy user of his phone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">An examination of the phone revealed that the teenager had only slept for three-and-a-half hours the night before the alleged murder, Mr Tully told the hearing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Referring to the law, the barrister said: \u201cHe denies that he bears any criminal responsibility for the death of Aria.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cHe says it was an unfortunate accident.
