{"id":569,"date":"2026-05-02T13:09:46","date_gmt":"2026-05-02T13:09:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/maury-povich-has-no-regrets-over-famous-paternity-segment-its-part-of-the-culture\/"},"modified":"2026-05-02T13:09:46","modified_gmt":"2026-05-02T13:09:46","slug":"maury-povich-has-no-regrets-over-famous-paternity-segment-its-part-of-the-culture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/maury-povich-has-no-regrets-over-famous-paternity-segment-its-part-of-the-culture\/","title":{"rendered":"Maury Povich has no regrets over famous paternity segment: It&#8217;s &#8216;part of the culture&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/login9ja.com\/global\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/04\/maury.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Maury Povich has zero regrets over the \u201cWho\u2019s the Daddy\u201d segments on his eponymous \u201990s talk show.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cMaury\u201d show, which ran from 1991 to 1998, became famous for a segment during which men \u2014 who were either trying to establish or deny paternity \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/04\/01\/maury-povich-youre-the-father-of-tvs-wacky-paternity-tests\/\">took DNA tests<\/a>, with the results being revealed on air.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Maury Povich spoke to Page Six recently about his career \u2014 in particular, an infamous segment that his talk show became known for.  <span class=\"credit\">Page Six<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>His eponymous talk show, which began airing in 1991, featured men taking DNA tests on air to prove or disprove paternity (Povich seen above on the show). <span class=\"credit\">Courtesy Everett Collection<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Povich, 87, told us he sees a silver lining attached to the often raucous segments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we basically helped a lot of kids end up with two-parent homes instead of one,\u201d he noted. \u201cThe statistics are that if a child has two parents in their life, they [have] got a better chance at success \u2026 So that\u2019s what I hung my hat on. That\u2019s what I was trying to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former TV host has come out of retirement to host a new AI event. The live taping, which took place in April, had Povich attempting to mediate a messy love triangle between two friends and an AI-generated girlfriend, sponsored by the <a href=\"https:\/\/air.inc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AI company, Air.<\/a><\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Povich, seen here on the talk show, said he has \u201cno regrets\u201d over his \u201cWho\u2019s the Daddy\u201d segment, noting that it \u201chelped a lot of kids end up with two-parent homes instead of one,\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Maury\/ Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>The television personality, seen here in 2022, explained he was \u201ctrying\u201d to help kids. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Povich told us he has no trepidations about artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not scared at all,\u201d he opined. \u201cMy son-in-law is an oncologist, and he tells me that AI is going to make everybody healthier for many, many years than they thought they would live, and that it\u2019s the greatest boon to medicine there is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, in that way, I\u2019m very excited,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Povich, one of the producers on his hugely successful syndicated show, told us he is grateful for his success.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Povich, pictured here in 2019, recently hosted an event that featured a love triangle with an AI girlfriend. <span class=\"credit\">NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>The former daytime host, pictured on the set of his former show, said he\u2019s not afraid of AI. <span class=\"credit\">Maury\/ Facebook<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very fortunate,\u201d he said. \u201cI never expected to make a lot of money in television since I was a news journalist for the first 25 years. Didn\u2019t make much money there. And so I was happy to be. I was happy to be.
